or ok then, vitali lost to a decent contender who picked up a strap. He probably should have been fighting cruiserweight.
Is it just me, or are the same people who complain the "Klitschko fights often weren't competitive" defend completely unnecessary fights like Wilder vs. Szpilka or Fury vs. Schwarz?
Vitali beat the best version of Arreola. By the time Wilder fought him he was done as a contender, and only got a title shot because he was washed up! Wilder fans need to be careful not to troll Arreola.
I remember people saying that. Was nonsense to it. No one cared to see Byrd v Lewis. After the Vit fight, he got flattened by Wlad and didn't have a major win until he got by Tua. At that point, Lennox had fought lost and regained his title to Rahman, then fought twice before retiring Tyson and Vit. Byrd was just an odd man out. Networks didn't want him.
My ass kicked? I asked you to name his challengers who were ranked and prime. You can read. You know what I said. Adamek wasn't prime. Gomez wasn't prime. I'm not going to retype my whole post. It's still there. The question is do you miss that era? No, this era is better. Fury, Wilder, Joshua, Whyte, Ortiz, Parker, etc. ARE FAR BETTER heavyweights than freaking Kevin Johnson and a middle-aged former light heavyweight and cruiserweight beltholders. You honestly MISS the Klitschko era? Seriously? Give it a rest. You kicked no one's ass. You just reminded, by not answering the question and then instead listing all the TERRIBLE RING RANKED heavyweights contenders of that period, how TRULY AWFUL that era was. That era all but made the heavyweights a joke for a whole generation of fans who started watching the sport at that time. It's taken years to recover from that dismal era. But now we're getting heavyweight fights people actually care about again. I'm sure you're probably bored sitting at home. But this whole thread is a joke. The Klitschko era was terrible. The people who claim to "miss it" are just arguing to argue.
Arroela trained on a diet of tacos and beer back then , he wasn't committed to training. He changed his ways and trained like a professional for his second shot at the WBC title so you could say Stiverne fought the same , if not a better version of Arroela. Yes and I listed them. Age 34 to me is still prime years today at heavyweight, unless that fighter took a really beating with Adamek did not. How do you know Gomez wasn't in his prime. for his fight with Vitali? He was on a 9 fight winning streak. Okay, let's suppose 34 is past his prime. Your words. Now you trapped and you don't even know if. If Adamek was past his prime at age 34, which win over a ranked opponent in his prime does Fury have? ZERO!!! Wlad was 39, Wilder a hype job was 35. And the same question for Wilder, which win over a ranked opponent in his prime does he have does he have ZERO!!! Ortiz was 38-41. Stiverene was age 36. OUCH, your own argument just destroyed what you are trying to communicate. If 34 is past his prime, the top heavies, aside from some work from Joshua did jack crap beating no ranked contenders in his prime. Your words and rules, I'm just spelling them out for you. And most importantly Vitali was in late 30's to early 40's when he beat the below men in title fights. In other words he beat younger men that were ranked when he was well past age 34, hardly losing a round in the process. Sanders 39-2 #3 rated by Ring Magazine Williams 32-3, age 31. A puncher. Vitali was scheduled to meet Tyson, Williams defeated Tyson, hence the reason why this fight happened. Peter 30-1, #2 Ring magazine rated Age 28 Gomez 44-1, #9 ring magazine rated. Argued before box rec says: Klitschko was ranked #2 by The Ring Magazine and Gomez was ranked #9. Arreola 27-0, age 28 #6 Ring Magazine rated. Johnson, 22-0-1. age 30 #10 Ring Magazine rated. Sonowski 45-2-1, age 31 Briggs 55-5-1, former lineal champion, and a pucher Solis 17-0, age 30, #9 rated by Ring magazine. Olympic gold champion. Adamek, 44-1, age 34. #3 Rated by Ring Magazine Chisora 15-2, unranked age 28. If he wasn't robbed vs Helenius, he probably would have been ranked Charr, 21-0, age 27. Unranked.
I genuinely do not understand it. It nearly killed boxing. Thank god for Pac-Man and mayweather. I understand people liking them as ‘people’ and being fans, but come on. Their fights were generally dull, uncompetitive and that’s the way they liked it. I understand fully why they have fans. They come across as gents (secret egomaniacs) and all this, but it was truly awful. the heavyweight division is alive again. AJ v Fury will probably be one of the biggest fights in history.
The sport was pretty stale tbh Pac-Man and mayweather keeping the life in the sport, the heavyweight division was struggling
Lol I just posted the same thing I didn’t read the tread didn’t see your post your dead right though and this thread is wank anyway that’s why i didn’t read
