Maybe if the Kelly/Avanyesan fight went ahead last Saturday, and if Kelly had won then maybe? Brook rumoured to fight Crawford... Khan still knocking about. Will get on it. You’re thread idea reminds me of the current WBSS fight night competition.
Parker. Usyk Fury. A.J. ( would of picked Wilder before the fury fight, need to see how he comes bk. Going A J.)
Right lads, it’s semi final time. It was pretty much a wide victory for all four semi finalists in the previous round. Parker’s fresher legs got him past the tough, dangerous for the first few rounds, Povetkin. Despite only just stepping up to heavyweight, Usyk comprehensively outboxed Whyte whom gave Usyk one or two nervous moments before Whyte succumbed to a points defeat to the skilful Ukrainian. Fury made easy work of Ruiz. It was a schooling. Despite this fight being a potentially close 50/50 prior to 22nd Feb, Joshua dealt with Wilder with relative ease, coasting to an appearance in the inaugural ‘mess about’ heavyweight tournament semis. It was my lad, Matthew, who did the magic draw as I couldn’t get the other one off her Xbox. This is the semifinal draw.... Usyk v Parker Joshua v Fury
Usyk vs Parker - Interesting fight, in which i can see Parkers hand speeds causing Usyk issues. However ultimately Usyk's superior foot work, movement and judging the distance will see him win on Points. I would Usyk points win (rougjly 8 rounds to 4). AJ vs Fury - The worst opponent stylistically Fury could fight in the divison is AJ who is very well rounded. Fury is going to have to box smart on the back foot and pretty much not engage the entire fight simlar to what he did to Wlad to have a chance. I just cant see Fury successfully doing so without being caught by AJ. AJ is accurate puncher and doesn't waste many shots (a underrated aspect of AJ's), arguably the best combination puncher in the divison, proven a great finisher when he has an opponent hurt and one of the most powerful punchers in the divison. I just cant see Fury surviving with his proven glass jaw not to mention how poor defensively he has looked post coming out of retirement compared to pre retirement. Fury really did look open and vunerable in the Wallin fight and had to grind out a fortunate victory in very tough fight against a very low level opponent ( last time AJ fought someone this poor was probably Cornish). AJ KO inside 5 rounds.
Usyk on points 8 to 4 Uysk will have to eat some leather here at times But he will land more and Parker by the 7th will be fresh out of ideas and attack non stop leaving him open to a furry of counters each time Fury on points 9 rounds to 3 This is a similar fight to the above on how i see it playing out Only difference is AJ can knock Fury out if he lapses Fury will tap away scoring points but will also use his new found kronk style to beat AJ up when the gaps open up Both Fighters to go down but Fury to win on sheer volume of punches connecting
Usyk Vs Parker Usyk on points. Although Parker is a good mover and boxer. Usyk is faster and more skilled. Usyk will work Parker out in 2 rounds and put on a boxing clinic. Usyk points win by 5-7. AJ Vs Fury This comes down to tactics. However it very likely goes the distance. I suspect Fury outworks AJ in a herky jerky awkward style. AJ gets frustrated at his inability to land but does pick up a number of rounds on the cards, and has success. Fury points win by 2-3.
You are entitled to your opinion but it seems bizarre you keep referencing the Wallin fight when he has just beat Wilder in emphatic fashion. Surely that is a better yardstick than a fight he clearly was disinterested in
Usyk - I think a clear UD here. Parker just doesnt show the urgency you need to impose size and power against the smaller man. I don't think he is embarrassed by any stretch - I think an 8-4 type win. AJ/Fury - Very tricky one to call. I have always thought that AJ has the perfect style to beat Fury but based on recent fight you'd have to pick Fury on points. I think AJ will win rounds, his right hand is flashy and will catch the eye of the judges but Fury style is far better suited for longer fights and i think post Ruiz, AJ will naturally fight more cautiously. As the fight goes on, AJ will lack success in the long range game (Fury's jab is far more varied), AJ will have to push the pace and will tire before Fury. Fury Points
Yes he beat Wilder, a very limited, predictable fighter who avoided high pressure, come foward fighters, power punchers that would walk him down his entire career. Fury, who has never fought in that manor and his attributes and flaws are much more suited to box on a back foot completely changed his tatics against Wilder. Wilder cant box on the back foot and render Wilder hepless despite Furys waenknesses of being featherfisted and having suspect jaw go against peforming this style successfully against a top fighter. Losing numerous rounds and get busted badly open against a guy considered to be outaide the top 40 ia more telling as fight in my opinion.
Usyk UD12 Parker - Parker does very little, in a bout with the scoring similar to AJ/Parker. Joshua SD12 Fury - A GGG/Canelo esq close fight with controversial verdict. Not saying Joshua wins but he gets a decision.
Usyk wins over 12 rounds, Parker wobbling him once or twice but outclassed for majority of rounds. In a gruelling battle AJ takes a narrow points victory over Fury. Public and pundits are totally split on who won the fight and arguments continue on who is the best HW out there but Joshua gets the official nod in the ring by a very slim margin!
Usyk (W) v Parker ... 8-4 points win for Usyk with Parker to have some good moments early on, Usyk to take control and cruise to a points win Joshua v Fury (W) ... Fury to win a wide UD 9-3 type victory, don't see this being a great spectacle but a massive occasion. Fury's superior skills winning it
