Froch would've beaten Golovkin, right?

Jacobs isn’t close to the fighter Froch is and has a fragile chin, and GGG didn’t come close to knocking him out. Froch would destroy Jacobs whatever weight he came in at.

Froch then went on to explain why the fight didn’t happen: “We were in talks with his manager. They were trying to get me down to 166lbs.

“That don’t sound like much weight, 2lbs below the 12 stone [super-middleweight] limit. I was a machine at 12 stone…

“I could not have lost another 2lbs and performed. They were just trying to drag me down that bit further.

We don't know how GGG's power would translate to 168.

That aside, I think Froch was too big and too strong for GGG at SMW and had the kind of chin/powers of recovery to cope with the onslaught. But if someone makes a case for GGG, I'd not argue. It would have been a hell of a fight regardless of who you think would win....

If Jermain Taylor was 30 seconds away from beating Froch, then Golovkin is more than capable of it too.

I have Golovkin late TKO over Froch.

Froch wasn't a huge puncher, very solid but not huge, he was easy to hit, he could be outboxed, dropped by Taylor, dropped by Groves.

Golovkin is a big puncher but at a weight below, but I don't think a huge puncher, he is not Julian Jackson, he is also easily hit.

Froch had a great chin and so does Golovkin, so I could see this going either way, if I was forced to bet then I'd go with Froch decision.

I could see Froch just staying the distance stronger, probably taking a lot of the later rounds.

I always said it Froch would have stopped GGG. Like the man said himself, too big, too strong!! The man couldn't stop Danny Jacobs but he's somehow gonna knock out the man who couldn't be knocked out!! Nah, Froch inside 9!!

    GGG would absolutely destroy Froch.
Froch got through his career on being tougher than his opponents, well there is not many tougher than GGG and hes too skillful for Froch, wide decision. 9-3 or 10-2

Froch is really good at refusing to take fights and then talking like he won them anyway. Fact is, he was scared of GGG back then. Not necessarily of GGG himself, but of losing again after Ward. He knew GGG, who was at his prime then destroying fighter after fighter, had a good chance of beating him... hence why he hesitated to take the fight. He was afraid of losing to the smaller man who he wouldn't be able to bully around like Bute, Groves, Dirrell, etc..

Froch was too big, too strong and too... retired. This fight could of been made but Carl bought into the hype and at that point in his career he simply didn't want it that badly.

Golovkin was begging for a payday against someone who was proven draw and Froch would of been a good option. I think it would of been a very entertaining fight and by no means would I pick Golovkin with any real confidence but it would of shown us if the Kazakh really was a threat to Ward at 168.

Froch vs current GGG. Froch UD.
Froch vs Prime GGG. GGG late KO.

Froch is too hittable. GGG walks him down and takes him out.
