After the Ruiz fight, he said he wanted one more big money fight against Tyson and wanted to retire after that.

According to Andre Ward, the had the Tyson fight, but stalled wanting more money, and decided to go back down to 175 for Tarver, think the Tyson fight would be thee later.

He looked poor going back down, and ended up needing a rematch, and we all know how the rest of his career went.

If he had taken that Tyson match, and lets say he won.
Not a given considering Tyson had just enough left at that time to certainly take out Jones....where would he rank all time?

He'd have retired 49-1, with the loss a DQ.

4 weight world champion, first fighter in a century to win world championships at MW and HW.

Beat a string of HOF fighters.

Would we have talked about him in the ATG discussions?

Nope. Needed that Lineal title at light heavy and/or unification at middle/super.

Of course, The MW to HW title is a huge factor, wasn't done in a century and most likely we will never see it again. Not only that but he was Undisputed at LHW. Having other ATGs on his resume in B-Hop and James Toney also helps.

The question makes no sense. Tyson had lost to Lewis conclusively, he fought once a year or less. It shouldn't make any difference whether Jones fought him or not. Lewis was the guy to beat at heavy, just as Dariusz M was the guy to beat at light heavy.

Probably would be called the P4P greatest. Think about it, he never really lost a fight and started at around jr. middleweight.
Throw in victories over some other small heavyweight like Holyfield and Bryd and he's probably a lock.
    But you can't change history.

Makes no sense. His record would be no different than it is now, a win over Tyson would've meant nothing.

If anyone carries on fighting they'll keep losing, we all get old. It's irrelevant.

(he's not even remotely close to being the greatest)

Roy Jones was mentally weak. He was excellent in his prime, but as soon as he met an obstacle, the guy looked terrible ever since. He went from great to absolute crap. Getting KO'd left and right.

Tyson would have shattered Roy's glass jaw and ended his career. Roy thought he could squeeze more money out in easier fights.

No, Tyson would of shattered that roided glass chin and Roid would probably end up unable to box ever again.
