No problem. They just do a public weigh-in for his costume.

 

Yeah, the best way to make money on a rematch would probably to make the press conference a PPV. Seeing Fury rip him to pieces over the costume excuse will probably draw more than seeing him do it in the ring.

 

But if Wilder steps aside and let AJ and Fury fight first with him guaranteed he will have a big payday coming if the winner is AJ. A chance at all the titles hopefully and more money than he can earn anywhere else. And then there's the step aside money on top of that.

And if he flat out doesn't make any use of the rematch clause it will seem like he's scared and his marketability will suffer. He might not get to fight for a title again.

So step aside money and a guarantee to fight the winner of Fury-AJ is the best option for Wilder.

 

I'd still watch it but it's not like Deontays made massive improvements to his game over the course of his fights with Ortiz and Fury and that was a big indicator, for me, of things to come going in to Wilder Fury 2. However you still give Wilder the punchers chance and that's what kept us watching and will continue to do so in their 3rd fight.

I guess the discouraging thing for Wilder is that it's hard for him to land that right and the other thing is that - when he did land that right in their first fight, Fury got back up. So even Wilders best weapon is not a sure thing against Fury.

 

I really would like to see a Wilder-Fury 3, just not now.
I would also like to see a Joshua-Ruiz JR 3, but not now.
Let a year or two go by and then they should fight, in the meantime focus on the fights we haven't seen (Fury-Joshua, Wilder-Joshua, or even Fury/Wilder-Ruiz JR).

 

I'd rather see Fury vs. AJ next. Wilder can fight Parker. That would be a good one.

But I don't think the ticket sales have been that bad, maybe 65-70% sold with over 2 weeks to go last time I checked. But then there's been so little promotion surrounding this fight and there's so much focus on Euro 2020 in the UK and then we have the Olympics, it's possible I guess they've gotten scared that the PPV won't sell with so little media attention.

But then again maybe he just got Covid. Wouldn't shock me if his team hadn't taken the proper measures to bubble and minimise the risk.

 

I think ppv sales might be good, especially cos this is HW fight, looks that even Usyk vs Bellew had better sales than White vs Pov I and II fights.

HW fights at top are rarity and these are enough well known, with proper PR campaign might be good ppv sales.

 

If the fighters were given guarantees higher than the second fight then I would find that very bizarre.

Surely they never believed a third fight would be bigger when the second fight was so one sided?

Add into the matter neither fighter has fought and thirdly there would be fans who are pissed that the Fury v AJ fight isn't happening and have no desire to support a fight which has stopped the AJ v Fury unification.

Yeah, normally usually claims are selfish: Usyk isn't a big draw.
Sorry, Usyk vs A.J with good PR might sold more than A.J vs Pulev and White vs Povetkin I and II together.
Cos Usyk vs Bellew was better draw than both Whyte vs Pov fights togheter for sure and Pulev was deep underdog vs A.J.
