Both of these boxers (Galento: 244 and Baer 222 lb) would be considered heavyweights today. Galento was 30, Baer was 31.

Please watch at least some rounds of that clip before voting. Do you think they look like today professional sportsmen, or like fighters from the 1970/80/90s ?

Today they would be cannon fodder for a padded record with some "Good names" on it until some low level journeyman beats them aswell.

Boxers can only be evaluated relative to the environment in which they compete.

Every single one sport has evolved and changed. Boxers then weren't as good as boxers in later years and that's a fact.

HW is generally low on talent comparing to lower weight classes.
There are tons of low skilled fighters like Wilder or Valuev, who hold titles for long time.

If we could transport Tyson Fury back in time to their era in a caravan shaped Tardis there still wouldn't be a man born from his mother who could defeat him

what a strange question. Almost like a fetish. You like talking about fury more than me. Do you sit and wait until I post something so you can reply? It’s good to have a fan

Oh really? You don't see any difference in their skill and the way they fight?

    Baer looks alright.

I'd back him to beat Spilzka right now.
With some modern defensive techniques, he'd be a pretty good fighter: Good reflexes and balance, power, fairly fast hands.
    It's all there.

Galento looks like they picked up the loudest guy from the pub and told him they'll pay his tab if he fights.

He'd take both Willard and Dempsey to Gypsy Slick School at the same time
