Lewis imo would wipe George out, he'd make it look easy and that's no disrespect to George, he'd be beaten to the punch by a much bigger man with a dynamite right hand especially the fact that George was pretty stationary

Lewis himself said that when he's in Canada they think he's British; when he's in Britain they think he's Canadian. When he's in Jamaica they're happy to claim him as Jamaican with no questions asked.

Nationality isn't always a simple binary thing; Lewis sees himself as Jamaican, British and Canadian. I think a lot of British fans got too hung up on the is he British or not question, and almost expected Lewis to be embarrassed that he won Olympic gold under a Canadian flag rather than a British one.

There were obviously commercial reasons why a career in Britain was preferable to one starting in North America, but it's not like he turned up one day and decided to be British. He was born in London and lived there for the first 11 years of his life.

Agree with most of that but don’t think him and Joe Joyce have similar personalities at all. Joe Joyce is likeable, he’s just not natural in front of the camera. Certainly doesn’t carry the same air of arrogance.

Ridiculous coming from the man who worships Chris Eubank.

First, we've always preferred good losers to winners - Chris Eubank was only really popular after he'd lost a couple. Second - after so many heavyweight failures we didn't realise just how good Lewis was, and I think casuals still don't appreciate it.

Lennox Lewis is one of the greatest of all time. I can't speak for the whole of the Uk but he was, and still is loved here in London.

Lewis was actually quite aloof and up himself really, which obviously didn’t help in terms of popularity. I think people forget that sometimes, he wasn’t this lovely guy. Personally I didn’t mind that, he needed that arrogance to be what he was, it was his style.

But when you really look at it Lennox wast that likeable in a way, he was guarded and didn’t give much away. The Brits like their sports hero’s to wear their hearts on their sleeve, like ala Bruno and Hatton. The air of superiority doesn’t go down well unless you can pull it off like Ali did, the brits loved Ali, charm goes a long way.
