Size does not mean anything, the bigger you are, the harder they fall. It is about skill. But that is your opinion, everyone has one. In my opinion, Usyk would not be able to catch the prime Muhammad Ali of 1967, too fast. The post prime Ali, maybe a different story.
Peak Ali was 210-215, bigger ip top when he came back. Ali was at least as tall as Usyk, heights are so often exaggerated.
I do not see Norton & Foreman as taller than him. Dundee might have said that, there is also audio of Foreman saying Frazier claimed to be 5' 10" & never was a day in his life... Frazier never claimed to be only 5' 10", guys can be of good conscience but innacurate.
I don't know what to say to this, Mildenberg isn't a patch on Usyk, he was just one of many contenders back then and lost to anyone going anywhere. He was well behind on points when Cooper stopped him. Ive had to go and look at his record just in case I missed something, I haven't. He was a good European level contender, not champion material and no gauge on how Usyk fares against God !
Ali was 6 2" Usyk 6 3", I mean I know its Ali, but it still counts, we cant exaggerate because its Ali...Usyk looks thicker up top to me, stronger. Theres hardly any difference between Henry Cooper and Ali, Cooper was 6 1", Alis height was exagerated
Well im sorry to say but I think your exaggerating Ali's height out of hero worshipping, hes quite clearly shorter than both. They both are taller
Why are there weight divisions then ?? Is it not to give a fair even fight ?? Size when skills are equal can be the BIG decider..You take Holy v Bowe for instance. The only reason he beat the **** out of Holy is because of size, they were level pegging until the later rounds where weight shows Cooper could, Doug Jones could, fellas that aren't as fast as Usyk could, Usyk is more complete than Ali too
Cooper did in 1963, Jones did not, as I said we are talking prime Ali in 1967, your man has not proved himself, size does not matter.
Yes there are weight divisions, but let's be serious through the years fans seem to make up their own. For a long time the cruiserweight division was gone and came back i believed in the early 1980's. Nowadays the younger fans like 300 pound fighters, but us older fans appreciate fighters who looked in shape, that is the difference. Everyone should have their favorites, bu sometimes these threads are unusual. I have seem smaller men take apart these Jolly Green Giants before, it is the skills that you have, size is not a given, too many people have lost bets due to this thinking. Yes Henry Cooper decked Ali in 1963, but Ali won. In 1966 in the rematch there was no knockdown,, Ali stopped him on cuts. Doug Jones never decked Ali, but gave him a good fight.
Well Mate, Muhammad Ali's prime years were 1964-1967, I happen to be old enough to have seen him then. Why 1967, because of his refusal to be drafted into the U.S Military in 1967, he was at his best. He was not allowed to fight, as his title and license were taken from him. This because he was convicted of Draft Evasion, he was banned for 3 and a half years from the ring.
Please shopw more intellectual rigor Somali. 1) Where do you see evidence in my posts that I hero worship Ali? 2) If you can tell that you made an assumption absent any evidence there...Why would anyone even *need* to be one to differ with you about these small differences in height? 3) You reasserted a premise absent any evidence. There is no significant difference, & it is true that generally boxers (& certainly people in general) at least round up their height. When I see these guys in the ring together, they look virtually exactly the same height. Show me the evidence that Foreman & Norton are taller than Ali please.
I would just correct one thing-the CW division came in only at the very end of the '70's (12-8/79), & never vanished-it just expanded to the other sanctioning bodies. And it increased from 190 to 200 lbs. as the maximum weight. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cruiserweight_(boxing)
He had Parkinson's. Almost certainly caused by boxing. However, it wasn't in his prime years he took the damage that could have caused it. Suggesting he is overrated and wasn't elusive because he went on to develop Parkinson's is just mindless trolling. In his prime he had the GOAT feet at heavyweight unarguably. You can't pick anyone today against him realistically. Fat Ruiz destroyed today's hyped supergiant with a bit of speed, Ali would have made all 3 look silly.
