I live in China, in a province a bit to the east of Wuhan. I've been staying indoors for around nine weeks now, but returned to work this week. Not entirely happy about it. Stay safe, everyone.
I live in Midtown NYC. I walk fro miles most daaaze, & it has become more of a relative ghosttown. The vast majority are trying hard to socially distance. This will change the economy & social fabric semi-permanently, & is a national trauma. I am glad someone set up this real-world threat of support, good job McGrain. I was in Planet Fitness when they closed, a real skinny kid joined me for traffic light chin ups & push-ups, 2 nurses & a dude going to meet a cruise ship with 4000 fairly clueless folks from a long voyage from the Caribbean. Did the same thing once a week since-& doing ab work on a yoga mat, some thought I was struggling (to get up) or dying, lol! Also took a really heavily loaded up pro backpack up & down my stairs 2 at a time a # of times...Someone thought I was dying then too. I hope everyone stays safe & keeps their spirits up. It is useful to say where you are from too...
We need to provide evidence that we've not left the city for 14 days and then have our temperature taken, to enter anywhere (even our own apartment blocks). I'm a teacher, and although I've started back at work recently, my students won't be back for a couple of weeks. I'm now more concerned about my family back in England.
Fair enough. But I have been on several cruises, and it’s not like the ship is filled with people from the highest echelon of society and health. I don’t know about this specific cruise, but in the US at least, cruises are quite affordable. They are usually filled with plenty of overweight people and tons of old people. Lower income people love cruises too...you got the all you can eat buffets, and you can even get a drink pass for a pretty decent price. It’s not like this occurred on a private yacht or something.
So you know the state of things here...People have been good overall, though some were arrested in the Bk. for refusing repeated requests to disperse. Fools then got to go to lock up where they can have much more risk of exposure... I used to go to DUMBO for their arts festival, loved open studios so much I started & ran one for years for my Hell's Kitchen 'hood. By chance I saw Mitch Green once in Gleason's though just popped in there. Hired consultants who helped start the biggest open studios, Bushwick. What community do you hail from there?
You have seen that Bk. area change so much...My Brother lives in L.A. & wrote for Bill Maher for over a decade.
I’m from Venice. The same changes have happened in Venice as in North Brooklyn. They’re very similar places in certain ways.
