47 years old and inactive for approaching SIX years, Fres Oquendo wants $325,000 for his previously cancelled fight with Manuel Charr and to be declared the WBA regular champion by challenger’s default because of PED fails by both Charr and his previous 2014 opponent (then WBA champ) Ruslan Chagaev which has caused him and his boxing career irreparable damages. A written promise by the WBA of a title shot could actually see Fast Fred announced world champion in 2020 Surely the WBA can afford to pay this dude off?
Honestly at this point I'm surprised the WBC hasn't just hired a hitman to smoke him out. I'm sure someone would do the job for a fraction of that £325k.
Why do people still believe in Fres Oquendo? The man's a myth, like Keyser Soze and the Candyman. He never really existed.
It is amazing how a boxer who is making a legal claim to be a champion, hasnt actually boxed in 6 years. It hardly helps his case, or make him look like he is serious. The WBC should just wear him out. Delay and Delay the legal claims until the years pass by so much that he runs out of money. He clearly isnt ever going to box again now, and he will run out of money

He must have been offered a good wedge already, but won't take it. Could be that he wants to build a case against the WBC for loss of earnings/irreparable legacy damage. The longer it drags out, the stronger the case he may have again.
I have sympathy for him. He's the most ripped-off heavyweight ever. But no, he doesn't deserve ranking in the too 100 at this point.
I'm as bored of the saga as anyone else but I definitely have sympathy for Fres. He's the wronged party in this. Meanwhile PED cheat Charr is trying to finagle his way to a massive payday.
It was only a matter of time before someone took the alphabet boys to task for making up the rules as they go on, and sticking their heads in the sand over the PED issue. It would be easier to get behind if it was someone other than Fres, but the ability and popularity of a fighter shouldn’t really come into it. Boxing fans in general weren’t too bothered when the WBC ****ed over Graciano Rocchigiani to install Roy Jones as champion. Rocky was finished as a world level fighter by the time it got to court, and Roy was the top fighter in the sport. While boxing fans didn’t care, the courts did and it almost finished the WBC off. It’s obviously ridiculous that Fres is trying to claim a world title when he probably would struggle to win a regional title at this stage. However, if the fallout gets the WBA to clean up its act or even better drives them out of business it will be worth it.
