I agree with you 100%, and I'm a Tyson fan. It's so frustrating to hear people constantly mention the "slow count" by referee Meyran and that Tyson wasn't at his absolute mental peak. No matter the excuse, the fact is Douglas put on a boxing clinic that night in Tokyo.

I think Tyson's haters downplay it more than his apologists do.

One of my all-time favorite performances.

Won it fair and square, James Buster Douglas had too much motivation, was well prepared and had nothing to lose. There were problems in his personal life going on, he dealt with it in a big way. Iron Mike Tyson really believed his hype, and thought he could get by by going to parties with attractive females, staying out late. He partied like Carlos Monzon did before all of his fights, Tyson should have taken this fight serious, not to underestimate your opponent. That is the demise for many a champion throughout history, you cannot be like someone else.

Without question,,the greatest upset in boxing history. I think it was around the end of the 5th after taking a combo that I noticed a strange look on Tyson's face , like confusion, what's going on here? Teddy Atlas spoke of it , how Mike wasn't mentally prepared for resistance of this kind, he had simply blown everyone away or they struggled and held to go the distance never threatening to win.
