So I've always looked at Wilder for who he's: an empty barrel that makes the loudest noise. The fake posturing and yank media hype that loads of Brits started buying into, before Fury pulverised him into submission, never fooled me one a bit. I saw him as a one-trick pony and that one-trick was grossly overrated due to knocking off bums. There's a reason why KO ratio drops once a boxer upgrades his level of competition. Top fighters won't just lay down for one punch. Wilder also can't take a punch. That's where the balance has always been for me that he's an accident waiting to happen. He should thank his stars that Fury exposed him and he can start claiming that he was never the same after Fury, once contenders start sparking him out. A lot of casuals bought into that facade/narrative and most are now hiding
Apart from his power i thought he had good hand speed and threw his shots from weird angles that are hard to defend against but that’s it I never saw him as a great fighter
but he can only throw those shots when his opponents stand right in front of them and give him space and leverage to throw those shots when he is fighting backwards he can't generate power like he usually can...Fury set the blueprint to beat this guy

Wilders a dangerous/good fighter. Hes been made to look better than he is by safe matchmaking and fighting guys tailor made for him. But hes still a nightmare fight for most tbh. His footworks not actually that bad in that he uses it very well with his length. He forces you to step into him with it....the problem with fury was his reach was longer than wilders. Fury could punch going in as opposed to most of them that are forced to walk in on him. Not many will get away with what fury done tho against him imo. The way he backs off the shorter reached fighter either falls short with his punches or has to walk in first without punching leaving them exposed to wilder launching at attack. Either need to put your punches together which very few heavyweights nowadays can do or have the longer reach and be able to punch your way in. Other guys will still find it hard against wilder tho. Hes still a very dangerous guy.

Wilder mostly appealed to casuals or second generation Mike Tyson fans, the ones who were in love with legend rather than interested in the whole package. If a guy is still knocking over stiffs after his 15th pro fight it's time to ask questions. Always reckoned Wilder as a hype job.
Yea, the great fighters didn't have a problem with 6-9, 275 pound opponents who can fight orthodox and southpaw, have great mobility, and are as relaxed and at home in the ring as any fighter in history. IMO, losing to Tyson Fury doesn't expose a fighter and if they fight again, Wilder is just as dangerous as ever. He still has hand and foot speed, he creates angles, and he has huge power. He is capable of knocking out anybody he fights. Fury is a one of a kind fighter, there has never been that combination of size, and quickness in addition to a fighter who has grown up boxing in a boxing family. I wouldn't be too quick to judge Wilder off of a fight with Tyson Fury.
