Only Ali was greater (though I think Larry probably should be mentioned, at least in passing...let's say, the Wunderkind who beat Shavers I in particular).

I'd love to have specifics, please. Looks like quite a few others want that, too.

You could lose 2 out of 3 against Bowe and still have a better career than him in the 90s, and as a whole! Not the same then H2H on a good night ;)

To make that one clear in other words:

"Joe Louis had a thing called the bum of the month club. ../.. The men that Joe Louis fought, if I´d fought them today in Madison Square Garden they would boo the men away, fat bellies, out of shape, awkward, had no stance, no footwork, they couldn´t even move that much (jump)!"

    - Muhammad Ali on film

    Pin point.

All respect, GOAT (you're a favorite member of mine) but you already know that Ali had bums, Holmes had bums, Marciano had old men. Ali could have been talking about himself or any number of other champions. Most champions in it for the long haul pick some deliberately easier fights.

If Joe Louis fought in that era he would have been using peds and probably ends up ruling the era just like he ruled the 30’s/40’s

Ali is talking about WHAT kind of bums! "fat bellies, out of shape, awkward, had no stance, no footwork, they couldn´t even move that much (jump)" Thats what Ali

And he imho is correct. Louis fought too many questionable fellows, many of them CWs, to put him confidentiality in a more scientific, heavier environment.

As a Trainer Jack Blackburn was as wise and forensic as Steward.

In a WBSS sort of scenario none of them go unbeaten. Bowe and Holyfield will fare worst as I think if all the Fighters are at their best they have the least to offer.
Tyson and Lewis both have an even shot against Joe and one of them beats him but with 1 defeat he comes out as overall winner.

While he may be able to beat, even stop any of them in a prime for prime fight, taking on all of them back to back is a tall ask. Say he fights and beats prime Tyson first, that fight could have taken a lot out of him. Not to mention all of the good contenders he may have fought in between like Frank Bruno, McCall, old Foreman, Bert Cooper etc.

The men that Louis beat would be top notch in any era, including this one and the 90's.

Tyson is the worst matchup for him, followed by Lewis. I'd expect him to lose to both.

The other two are hard to predict, but they'd each most likely be all-out wars where both fighters end up eating a lot of damaging blows.

Late 70’s/80’s Joe Louis weighs 225 pounds

he knocks out Norton in 2 rounds

catches Holmes in between the 10th and 15th rounds but Larry doesn’t rise after 3 knockdowns

beats page, weaver, Berbick ect ect comfortably

knocks out Cooney brutally spinx too

    loses to Tyson by 1987

Ali said the same thing about Frazier and then he lost a fight. I don't care what Ali said.

That's funny because 1930s and 1940s HWs were definitely better conditioned than 1980s ones.
