Tito knocks him out late. Quartey would have success with the jab early but he wasn’t that hard to find with the hook and had lapses. You know who was relentless in his peak and had the best hook of his era? Yup.

I also see Tito getting him out of there late-ish. More dynamic fighter, more explosive, and Quartey boxed well enough but did so on a dime as they say. DLH moved against Tito which served him well. Quartey would stay there to be hit. Against most that would be fine, but not Tito.

This fight should have happened around 95/96 - would have been a classic. I've gone for Tito on points although I can see a late stoppage too but Quartey was pretty durable.

It was actually agreed for 1998. I believe it was going to be a Main Events HBO main event. De La Hoya then got in the middle and said he’d fight Quartey so Ike of course went with the money fight and Tito re-negotiated a good contract with King finally.

Winky Wright actually took Quartey's style. And we saw how well Tito faired against it. I'll take Quartey to thoroughly outbox Trinidad and for the judges to rob him of his rightful decision.

That was the 2nd to last bout of Tito’s career. He’d already had over 40 fights at that point. He was a Champion at 19-0 so nearly all his bouts were Championship fights after he won that 1st title. I’m thinking over 20 Championship level fights including many of them being wars would take it’s toll Wouldn’t you agree?? He was used up and past his prime by the time he fought Wright.

I’d say in a tough fight where he’d more than likely hit the canvas he’ll run through Ike late with his sheer will and relentless offense!! Tito tko11..

Yeah Tito has already had a long, hard championship career and then had nearly three years out. I basically toss the Winky fight out. Tito, in his prime, was a relentless fighter who was always coming forward and finding openings whereas the washed up version was waiting for openings before punching.

Huge fan of both fighters. The Quartey that fought Oscar would be an absolute handful for Tito. I know most are going with Tito but I would not sleep on a prime Quartey. I could see this going either way to be honest.

Tito was 32 and punch perfect in his prior bout. He wasn't used up he simply came up against a style that bettered him. Much like when he faced DLH he couldn't land anything. He's somewhat limited against top level defences.

I disagree, there is a reason he only fought once more in a meaningless fight against Roy Jones where he was clearly way too heavy and out of shape. Ike was a good fighter and everybody has their own opinion but I think Trinidad beat better fighters than Wright or Quartey in his prime. Guys like Reid or Whitaker among others were slick and Tito had no trouble tracking them down and dominating them. Whitaker was no longer prime but was still very solid defensively. Reid was on the rise and Trinidad beat the career out of him same thing with Fernando Vargas. Or Campas or whoever you want to throw in there. The dude never took an L until Hopkins, he was 40-0 going in vs Bhop

I went with Tito on points, giving Ike the benefit of the doubt that he’d last the distance. But what a great match.

Tito retired after both of his official losses, must have hit his ego. He was retired for 3 years after Winky

Whitaker was past prime and a natural lightweight. Reid was a youngster with 14 bouts. DLH easily outboxed a prime Tito. A DLH who just got a robbery decision against Quartey
