    No, but he had a really good peak for a handful of years. Excellent talent. Even if the Ward fight never took place, I still think he was on borrowed time given Stevenson and Kovalev's devastating power and ability to land it.

    He was definitely on the right path but smack dab in heart of his prime from April 2008 to April 2012 he fought 40 yr olds Johnson, Tarver, and Hopkins two times each, beat Diaconu and lost to Pascal.. So he literally wasted 4 years of his prime with unspectacular performances.. Then 168 move just killed him and he proceeds to fight the biggest puncher in the division in his next fight.. Career suicide.. I wish Calzaghe would have fought him before he retired but hey why would he risk his 0 against a guy whom would just be a footnote so I understand it..

    For me, he didn't accomplish enough for the hall of fame. Very good fighter but not enough sustained wins at the top for the hall.

    If he can somehow win a belt, would that give him the final push to the HOF?

    He has a better resume than many in the Hall.

    Wins over Hopkins, Tarver, Adamek and Johnson is pretty solid. If Tarver gets the nod himself I think it really strengthens Dawson’s claim in turn. Likewise if Adamek gets in, although I don’t see that happening any time soon.

    I think yes but loses aginst ward and stevenson hurt him.

    2 time champ 3 wins aginst atg tarver hopkins adamek,

    But he will not be first ballot thats for sure.

    I agree with you about Dawson needing more longevity. However, I disagree that he needed to beat Ward. I think Dawson could’ve done a lot for his HOF credentials with a competitive decision loss. It was sad to watch Ward take Dawson apart like a mechanic.

    Nope. if wining a belt and having three/four good names was all it took, there's be a thousand more boxers in the HoF

    No. A lot of people beat Glen Johnson (throughout his career). Tarver was 40 and 41 when Dawson outpointed him. Hopkins was 47 when Dawson outpointed him.

    The Adamek win was his best. I was surprised Chad won that. He had to get off the floor to do it. Losses to Fonfara and Karpency don't help, either.
