Yes, James was coming off of a loss before he fought Montell.

    And?

It doesn’t stop you rating Collins’ win over Benn, after he’d come out of retirement after losing to Malinga.

Griffin and Toney had 2 great fights. They were both very technical fights. They were both quality in those 2 fights.

Griffin would have been a handful at SMW.

    Ha!

You know I don’t condone anyone taking PEDS.

I think the majority of the fighters back then were taking them.

The only thing that I don’t agree with, is the myth that Roy was only special because he took them, and then he completely turned to poo when he stopped.

Regarding your photo, any fighter with definition looks like that in a mid motion still.

You should see some shots of Usain Bolt from when he was racing and training. He doesn’t look human.

Eubank and Toney were the OG's. End of thread.

Can stop you right there with that stupid answer. Watson had no SMW pedigree at all. Not saying he wasnt a good fighter but he hadnt done anything at SMW
    For you?
We are talking SMW and Rocchigiani/Maske was at LHW. At SMW, Rocchigiani didnt come close to achieving what Kessler did at the weight
With Thornton, I would ask, based on what?
With Holmes he was getting on his career when Eubank fought him and had been stopped by a former LMW.
Cant see anything in what you have wrote

The Benn loss was a debated loss that some felt he had done enough over a proven world class fighter at the weight. Toneys loss was clear.
Toney was fighting at a new championship weight, Benn at an established proven championship weight

You go by resume AND ABILITY.

    Engage your brain.

Steve Collins was never a better fighter than James Toney, Andre Ward and Roy.

How does Kessler hold a better win over Carl?

Andre beat Carl with absolute ease despite having a double fracture of his hand.

Only a fool would omit Ward from the top 5, and have a guy like Collins above him.

    Ward-Kovalev 1 wasn’t a robbery. It was a close fight.

The TKO win in the rematch didn’t happen because of a low blow. The referee stepped in because Kovalev was spent. He’d taken lots of unanswered shots and wasn’t defending himself. The referee made the decision based on what had happened in the entire fight, as well as the whole round, not just specifically for what had happened with the very last shot.

What about the referee in Ottke’s fight with Reid?

That was a 2 vs 1 handicap match.

    Ha!

Did you hear his comments last weekend in response to Froch’s recent call out?

“When I was at my peak I'd have been too fast and too sharp for him. I think I'd have beaten any super-middleweight, maybe not Roy Jones Jr at his peak."

I think Ward is the best at 168. I dont like him and he is a very dirty fighter. But facts are facts, look at his record and who he beat.

Collins is far too high and can’t possibly be ranked higher than Joe.

    More nonsense.

    Again:

    Context.

James was coming off of a loss to a prime version of Roy Jones.

Nigel Benn was coming off of a loss to Thulani Malinga.

Griffin’s win over Toney was much better, even if it was a close fight.

Toney was one of the best fighters in the world.

    Benn was shot against Collins.

Collins should be higher than Eubank, who he beat TWICE.

But not higher than Joe Calzaghe. Joe should be #1 at 168.
