Moore dodged a tons of punches from Marciano, Morrison didn`t have Marciano`s workrate and he was easy to counter.
Moore was more skilled than Lewis and harder to hit with jabs, Morrison didn`t throw as many jabs at Lewis as Bruno and Mercer did.
But were those guys heavyweight s that punched as hard as Morrison to. You see, I'm not claiming that Tommy's an ATG, Moore was, just not at that particular weight. The advantages Moore had as a fighter drop dramatically the higher he climbs. Certain style heavyweight s he beats, no problem s, but Tommy s one, that Archie would find a little to much.
moore wasnt a big Puncher at Heavyweight. he often had to go the full route, even with Pretty mediocre heavyweights. morrison was much bigger, faster and hit harder. the only way for moore to win here is to get morrison into the late rounds, tire him out and take him out. but to do so, he would have to move into morrison and break him down. and i just dont see it. moore could be hurt by guys like yvon durrell, climbing off the Floor several times to wear out the Canadian for a late stoppage. and if moore thinks durell could hit hard, he will be in for a shock when Tommys left hooks get to him. i think this Ends violently and early. morrison by ko in round 3.
Don't forget mark, Moore was facing an almost retired Rock, that works in Archie's favour. And Moore still ended up battered.
Free to believe what you like. I don’t think he would have a hard time with Tommy. He wasn’t in Moore’s league really. im Not sure how hard men like Marciano, Nino, Satterfield, Sheppard hit but they hit pretty hard and he hung w them and beat most of them. Although like Tommy his chin let him down on occasions. Watch Moore V Davidson fight for what a prime heavy weight Moore looks like. The one that fauggt Marciano was good but wasn’t as fast as the Davidson version.
Moore is leagues above Morrison in a p4p sense, but Tommy had quick hands, a big punch and some skills too. On the right night, Moore could build a points lead and win on points, but equally, I could also see him getting stopped late on against the bigger heavier man. Tommy pulled some big wins out of the bag. 55-45 Archie on his best night.
good examples, BUT Lavonante, Baker, and Valdes did not weight as much as Morrison did. Tommy was 225-227 for his biggest fights. Morrison also hit significantly harder than these guys.
Moore punched above his weight many times. He beat Valdes and Baker - both huge and powerful hiiters.
Moore sure didn't handle the speed of Patterson too well, did he? I think the sizzling left hook lands over that cross arm defense and his tendency to bend down. I think Old Arch is clipped early and stays hurt.
People keep bringing up the 38-45 year old Archie. Why don’t we just stick w prime Archie who more then likely drags Tommy into the later rounds and TKOs him. Tommy could bang for sure. But Moore had a problem w guys that could out work him. Overwhelm him. Can’t see Tommy doing that.
Morrison has a chance at catching Moore early but if he doesn't Archie could put it on him pretty good. Tommy was very ring stupid- and his performance against a fat old Foreman is not evidence of great boxing skills. And he did not "pretty much outbox " Mercer. Ray almost killed him. Archie is about 10,000 times smarter. He keep his left hand on Morrison and mark him up and he would turn him. Trying to keep up mentally would make Morrison even more tense and tight than ever- and being tense tired him even when he was doing well- and when he gasped out in the 4th round Moore would beat the brakes off him.
