Yeah, this sort of thread has been done before but I'm putting together my own personal top 50 at the moment so interested to see what people list.

Here are the only ground rules:

    1. Limit it to 10 only.
    2. Put them in order.
    3. For the top 3 (at least) in your list, give an explanation as to why they are your all-time favourites.
    4. Make them your personal favourites not what you think are objectively great fights.

    5. Gatti v ward 1

    1. Pryor-Arguello I - High level of skill and shifts in momentum. Beautiful clash of styles. The best of each style.

    2. Trinidad-Vargas - early drama, late drama, momentum changes and it was a huge fight that my guy won.

    3. Little Red-Ayala - Absolute mayhem from the get go. A spirited challenger up against one of the most exciting fighters ever and no let up.

    4. Chacon-Limon IV - Both balls to the wall warriors and much like #2 no let up. Late drama and shifts in momentum.

    5. Saad-Johnson I
    6. Frazier-Ali I
    7. Morales-Barrera I
    8. Gomez-Pintor
    9. Saad-Johnson II
    10. Chacon-Edwards II

    It’s very hard to narrow down because I think I would have 2-3 different ones each time I do the list. Some honorable mentions I love like Saad-Lopez II, Olivares-Kanazawa II, Vazquez-Marquez III and some sentimental ones I love like Jofre-Medel I, Marquez-Barrera, Marquez-Pacquaio IV etc;

    Right,
    1. Franklin/Johnson
    2. González/Letterlough
    3. GGG/Jacobs
    4. Charles/Marshall
    5. Morales/Barrera
    6. Eguchi/Eguchi
    7. Ortega/Paret 1
    8. Chacón/Limón 4
    9. Moore/Durrele
    10. Johnson/Beterbeiv
    1. Do I really need to explain? A brutal war, amazing action, momentum shifts and a come from behind KO from Franklin. What's not to like? It's an amazing fight between two of my top 5 favourites ever.

    2. A hidden gem, and a brutal war in which another one of my absolute favourites wins, and another at my favourite weight.

    3. Not the best fight, not the best performance, but it's the one which got me into boxing, so I gotta include it.

    4. The best... at his best... against an ATG, no less so what's not to love? Quite possibly the only footage of a peak Charles.

    5. As an El Terriblé fan, of course I love this fight. It's one of the best ever.

    Great thread OP.

I've watched so many fights over the years it's difficult to remember them all but I'll give it a shot.

    1. Benn/McClellan - If you haven't seen this go do watch it now preferably with the British commentary. The heart and determination Nigel Benn showed in this was unmatched. Non stop action, brutality, ebbs and flows and a London crowd showing as almost as much passion and heart as the two fighters.

    2. Holyfield /Tyson 1 - Remember this well, Holyfield was considered completely shot to the point were there was genuine concern he might die in the ring, he had had heart problems just before this fight and Tyson after demolishing Bruno and Seldon had the fans and media convinced he was back to his 1980's best and was destined to clear out the divison and retire with all the belts.
Instead of being steamrolled Holyfield held his ground and bullied the bully. From an entertainment standpoint this was not the greatest fight, a lot of clinching and spoiling but from an atmosphere and spectacle point of view this is awesome.

    3. Pryor/Arguello 1 - As already mentioned the perfect clash of styles, non stop action.

    4. Morales/Pacquiao 1 - Amazing back and forth war, highly recommended if you haven't already seen it.

    5. Michael Watson/Nigel Benn - Benn my favourite fighter of all time but watching Michael Watson use the old peek a boo defence and perfect counter punching to wear down and eventually stop a ferocious Benn was an awesome sight

    6. Barrera/Hamed - One of the most unlikable fighters in boxing history finally got his comeuppance, being schooled and embarrassed over 12 rounds by a technically brilliant Barrera.

    7. Mayweather/Maidana 1 - Great display from both guys, Floyd was past his best and Maidana had the perfect style to trouble Floyd, great fight that was not a robbery despite what some claim, it was damn close and could of gone either way.

    8. Salvador Sanchez/Azumah Nelson

    9. Marvin Hagler/Roberto Duran - Had to have a Hagler fight on here

10.Wayne Alexander/Paul Samuels - British domestic war between 2 chinny punchers, on here for nostalgic reasons

    Just missed out - Danny Williams/Mike Tyson, Holyfield/Cooper, Bowe/Holyfield 1 or 2, Sanchez/Gomez, Hamed/Kelley etc. etc. etc.

    1. Chacon-Limon IV - Boxing is, at the end of the day, about mental and emotional toughness. Be it the weeks-long grind of a training camp pushing yourself to the point of collapse or putting it all on the line in the actual fight, few endeavors offer the kind of opportunity for personal mountain climbing than does boxing. This fight is the pinnacle of that ethos. The human spirit at the height of its potential.

    2. Saad-Lopez II - Two of the most exciting fighters in a stacked division. Saad earned a big portion of his legend that day, and in defeat, so did Lopez. They were both covered in glory. And blood. I remember reading about the postfight press conference where Saad was said to be breathing shallowly, as if taking too deep a breath might cause him to burst. He always put it all out there.

    More soon.

    1. Muhammad Ali VS George Foreman - Legendary fight, and one of the most iconic fights of all time. An underdog defying the odds, and Ali proving his greatness.

    2. Marvin Hagler VS Thomas Hearns - Great war. Defined Hagler's career.

    3. Muhammad Ali VS Joe Frazier I - Great WAR! Amazing performance by Frazier.

    --------------------------------------------------------
    4. Larry Holmes VS Earnie Shavers II

    5. Muhammad Ali VS Cleveland Williams

    6. Muhammad Ali vs Ernie Terrell

    7. Thrilla in Manila

    8. Tyson Fury VS Deontay Wilder II

    9. Aaron Pryor VS Alexis Arguello I

    10. William Guthre VS Reggie Johnson

    3. Sanchez-Nelson- Sanchez's swan song. His calm impresses perhaps most; there's a frenetic, almost desperate quality to Nelson's attack here, trying desperately to throw Sanchez off his rhythm and maybe part of him trying to get Sal to at least betray that inscrutable exterior but it never happens. Make no mistake, Azumah does good work here, belying his relative inexperience. He forces Sanchez to give ground and pulls ahead on points, or at least stays even for almost the whole thing, but he's paying the price. Face horribly swollen, energy flagging, he finally succumbs to a series of sweeping hooks from the champion, and is rescued in the final round of a very tight bout. Sanchez of course remains stoic, as if he planned it that way.

    4. Vasquez-Marquez III- Ever put a roll of Mentos candy into a 2-liter bottle of Coke? The Vasquez-Marquez pairing is boxing's version of that.

Chang-Tokashiki - Complete insanity. The Korean Hawk is the more dynamic puncher though Tokashiki takes his best and inflicts his own hurt. Amazing, prolonged exchanges that don't relent until the Japanese finally caved under Chang's superior firepower.

    1.) Hagler-Hearns. 3 rounds of pure mayhem by 2 ATG's.
2.) Holyfield-Dokes. The up and coming former Cruiser against the past prime former champ who went to the well.
    3.) Corrales-Castillo. Hagler-Hearns...but for 10 rounds!!!
    4.) Dempsey-Firpo. Knockdown after knockdown after...knockdown.
5.) Tyson-Ruddock. Fire fight between the most dangerous punchers of their day.
6.) Foreman-Lyle. Back and forth, up and down, give and take brawl.
    7.) Benn-Eubank. Hate. That's it. Pure hatred.
8.) McCallum-Toney. Boxing masterclass at the crossroads.
9.) Leonard-Hearns. Momentum swings and both adapting to the other fighter's forte.
10.) Louis-Conn. The ultimate come from behind KO.
