I thought he was very inconsistent but the skill was there and when in top form I thought he was a joy to watch. Thoughts?

All above post aside, he was a decent fighter, nothing special, a feel good story
the way he restarted his career after a life threatening spinal injury. He was
able to win World Titles at multiple weight classes (A prime indication of how
diluted and weak boxing had become during his era.) Well managed , protected.

I was not a fan of him.. but he accomplished a lot in the sport and made some money... to come back from injuries that he did was great... A bit deluded about his own abilities... but he sure did make it exciting and I loved to tune in to see who would eventually knock him out... just like I wanted to see Paez the featherweight get beaten in the late 80's..

He was okay... that's about it.

Sidenote: he was an arsehole. Watching Roy piece him was awesome.

Watching my homeboy Haugen slice up pizza face remains a great joy. The only more odious creature I can think of is Bobby Czyz. Even that's debatable.

Remember that fight well, I think Hamsho gave him his 1st pro lost, gave him a good spanking.
