First off I think this is a fantastic fantasy match up and would be a guaranteed barn burner. A well respected ytbc who is generally excellent and very knowledgable brought up this fight and to my surprise at least he outright dismissed Taylor and took Khan by obliteration!..I thought that was mental tbh.so I'm interested to hear your thoughts on this.do you like the fight? And how it would play out in your opinion?
I think the best Amir Khan out works current Josh Taylor and I rate Taylor highly. I just think that it's a bad style match up for Taylor given that he's not the most difficult to hit and his face marks up easily. Not sure he has quite enough of a dig to KO Khan either (I know, I can't beleive I just said that either). Now Taylor against Maidana would have been very tasty indeed. Thing with Taylor is, I'm just not convinced he's going to get any better, I'm not even sure why to be honest, I just think he's already plateaued.
Would have been an excellent match up. I think Taylor has skills advantage were as Khan speed advantage. I think Khan would lead on points at half way stage with Taylor taking a foothold then as Khan began to slow. Taylors body shots and variety would lead to a late stoppage win or it could go either way in a razor tight points decision. Agree Taylor is to easy to hit when working in the pocket, but so is Amir when coming in close. Taylor obviously takes a shot much better.
Taylor would beat any version of Khan. Taylor is quality on the inside and Khan, especially 2010 Khan loves to hang around that little bit too much there.
Taylor starches any version of Khan. He was an excellent fighter but he just couldn’t help himself getting involved in a tear up eventually. Taylor would put him away.
Khan would most likely have ducked him, be honest. Getting beat or KO'd by a british fighter is too much for him, he would have downplayed Taylor and fought some big or so called big American names. Khan and Taylor seem to get on well but i'm sure if they were rivals in the same time period Josh would have despised him, cause chances of Khan fighting are slim, lets be real! I still think Khan has a chance of winning on a good night but he switches off so you don't know whats gonna happen.
Fantastic fight this would have been. The Khan that was robbed against Peterson would box Josh's ears off. He be too quick, have too many angles and would leave Taylor hitting thin air. Problem is, thinking about this one I just can't forget the Danny Garcia fight. For all that Amir could be playing tunes on Taylor, he's going to drop on to his heels and start loading up. He just loves to fight but tragically for him, his chin can't cash the cheques that his heart and fighting instincts sign. Love Amir to bits so, with a heavy heart I'm saying Taylor KO in 9.
First of all - Khan would never take this fight. It would be a duck similar to Brook, Thaxton etc... Secondly, Taylor shatters that Glass Jaw into a million pieces.
Even at his best, Khan was vulnerable to being out-muscled and roughed up. In many ways, that was as big a weakness as his chin, as demonstrated in the Peterson fight. I can't see Khan keeping Taylor off for 12 rounds, and at some point Taylor is going to close the distance and get the better of Khan on the inside. The chances are that he gets there earlier than Maidana did, and before Khan has chance to build a big lead. A late stoppage isn't out of the question, but Khan wasn't easy to keep down and at that point had confidence and heart. Khan's speed would be a problem for anyone early on, but once he slowed down he lacked the fundamentals, physical strength and ring generalship to keep persistent fighters off him. Taylor has a good chin so it's unlikely Khan is going to blitz him early. Difficult to see many scenarios where Khan wins this.
I think it's an excellent fight. Khan is never stopping Josh but Taylor certainly could put Khan away. Hmm gun to head I'm choosing Taylor.
Would of been a cracker this! Loved Khan in his prime and think he’d be ahead on the cards before Taylor stops him in the last third of the fight
