There's an audio interview with Fury and Bunce and Tyson admits he got nailed with an uppercut, he goes onto heavily praise AJ. I still think Tyson needs to show what he's shown against an aging Wlad , a crap boxer in Wilder and the lost of nobodiea against a world class fighter in his peak. Once he does that a couple of times, he could overtake Lennox Lewis and the all time British HW for me.
True. It is just interesting when certain fighters say they dominated another in sparring, bla bla bla and get their ass handed to them when they actually fight for real.
100% Groves and Eubank Jnr js a good example. Also goes to show the value of a great tactical trainer in terms of when they implement game plans. For instance, with a no nonense trainer in his corner, Eubank Jnr would've won against BJS.
Carl didn't say how it went but did say it was just what he needed and that he knew he was ready for Groves.
I can recollect quite a few I've heard over the years in terms of British fighters - Lennox Lewis getting chinned by Brewster - Danny Williams knocking Herbie Hide spark out. - Tommy Coyle going up to spar Ricky Burns when Burns was in his pomp and saying it was the hardest 2 weeks of his life but he stuck at it. - Price dropped AJ badly many moons ago and I've been told there is footage. - Froch putting Groves over which is why he was adamant he would walk through him in the first fight which he soon found out otherwise. Also heard Groves that this incident aside, boxed rings around him at times too which I guess is where he took a lot of confidence from. - Recent one from Froch himself where he said that him and Bellew used to have absolute tear ups... and on one occasion Bellew dropped Froch who then said his knee went but since admitted it was just simply a good shot. - Callum Johnson dropping Groves. Also Ryan Aston put him down prior to the Degale fight. - Eubank knocking Herol Graham out basically with the first punch he threw then not being able to lay a glove on him afterwards. - Haye knocking seven bells out of Arreola. - Pat Barrett putting a young Hatton on his back with a body shot - There's the well known Bellew and Price sparring with Haye as amateurs and doing a bit of a number on Haye between them. But I remember hearing that when Price turned pro under Hayemaker, Haye had him down on a number of occasions.
I knew that Matthew Hatton was getting battered by amateurs in the led up to the Chris Van Heerden bout.
When Lewis and Iron Mike sparred as youngsters, Tyson seemingly came rushing out and floored him viciously. Later in the week during sparring Lewis seemingly cut Tyson very badly to which Cus said they 2 would meet years down the line.
