Why doesn't Joshua get the credit for avenging his losses that Lewis does?

It's on the record books. They're going to sell the same line about "beating everybody he ever faced". What more credit do you want?

Also, if you want to shut people up, Rahman II is the blueprint. I was personally impressed that Joshua did alter his style for a fight right down to his anatomy. On the same note, Ruiz looked god awful. So now he got knocked out by somebody nobody respects. Tough situation despite the win.

 

Some people are biased against him, either because they've other favourites or just dislike him for reasons of nationalism or whatever.

Then there's a section of genuine vboxing fans who got so sick of the excessive marketing hype around 'AJ' and were so keen to redress the balance that they struggle to credit him adequately for that which he has achieved. They have a point where the hype is concerned, but they tend to take it too far.

Finally, on the Ruiz second fight. Some fans simply want to see HW boxing as a rock'em sock'em meeting of behemoths. They don't have any appetite for watching a big guy attempt the 'sweet science' so any approach which doesn't involve mutually assured destruction is pilloried on reflex.

That said, there's plenty that do give him credit, myself included. I credit him for taking the defeat like a man, putting his head down, humbly accepting the instructions of his trainer and masterfully putting those plans into practice in a rematch where a lot of pressure was sitting on his shoulders. He boxed beautifully and at a level of focus that some didn't think he possessed. He deserved the plaudits that night and he deserves respect for what he's done in the ring.

 

A couple of points need to be considered here. I don't care what people think about my next comment, it's my opinion and I stand by it. In no way shape or form was Joshua fully fit or mentally prepared or even at the races in the first Ruiz Jnr. fight. What exactly the problem was, I wouldn't want to speculate but, there were undeniably issues.

The pressure on Joshua to win the rematch would have been IMMENSE and unlike the levels of pressure that virtually any other boxer would have faced before. 100's of millions in sponsorship deals up in smoke, future match ups at stake, social media and the worldwide media in general, slathering at the thought of tearing him limb from limb should he lose. The likes of Wilder and Fury would have been having a field day 'To this DAY!' if Joshua would have lost.

Joshua had to win the rematch by hook or by crook and him taking the huge gamble to alter his camp, his body shape and his entire approach to the rematch gets MY respect.

People stating that he run or was on his bike the whole fight and showed lack of heart by not banging it out with Ruiz have an obvious agenda against Joshua and to be perfectly frank, are talking complete and utter BOLLOCKS!

 

Well maybe because Joshua was dropped and stopped like a sack of potatoes against an obese little midget and then in the rematch, failed to win by a similar margin? Lennox Lewis at least went out in the rematches against both guys who defeated him first with mean intentions, looking to KO those guys and looking to win even more dominantly than how his opponents beat him first time around. Whereas Joshua was disgracefully satisfied in being content with a decision win only, and wasn't looking to truly avenge a stoppage loss how one is supposed to, by seeking a brutal KO.

When a fat obese midget beats the brakes off you and has your head bouncing off the canvas multiples times, a decision win will NEVER in a rematch avenge such a humiliating defeat. For Joshua to avenge his defeat properly, he has to go back in there and not only stop, but has to stop Ruiz at bare minimum with the same amount of damage as Ruiz inflicted on him in the first fight. Anything short of that will have to be considered a failure, and such was the case the last time they fought.

No matter what Joshua does, unless he knocks Ruiz out, nothing he does in the future will have any value or worth, nor will he be worth anything. Joshua has to be one of the lowest of the lows, and one of the most worthless out of all the worthless athletes there can ever exist in any sport to get brutally stopped by a fat little obese midget and then not even attempt to return the favor by KO'ing that obese in the rematch. That is, whilst he heldd virtually every advantage over obese Ruiz Jr in terms of height, reach, muscle mass, functional weight (weight not composed of fat), wealth and so forth so on.....

In any society where standards are sufficiently high and not as low as it is for today's heavyweights, fans and the public would be demanding Joshua to be literally crucfied unless he went back in there and brutally KO'd Andy Ruiz Jr. But unfortunately, we are living in such a lowly era where a muscular specimen like Joshua winning a decision against an obese scrub is supposed to be impressive. Can you imagine if a gladiator from the roman times lost a hand to hand combat battle against a fat obese midget EVEN ONCE? A muscular gladiator at that? That gladiatior wouldn't even get the chance of a rematch to redeem himself because would be stoned to death out of the sheer disgrace and embarrassment he brought to himself and the human race by losing to a fat obese. I mean, any guy with any level of dignity would consider suicide, if he lost to someone as nasty and pathetic as Ruiz Jr with as many advantages. But not only does Joshua have no dignity, but he also has the audacity to come out and not look to KO Ruiz Jr in the rematch?

As far as I'm concerned, Joshua is the definition of a fake robot with no dignity and morale. He could be stoned to death for all I care. But then again, a robot with no dignity or morale was never truly alive to begin with for me.

Let’s be honest here, McCall didn’t hear the first bell and then Quit, Lewis beat on him and he had a mental breakdown. Just imagine being beaten on so bad that you literally have a mental break mid fight. Plus all the cocaine McCall did probably didn’t help.

 

Lewis's KO defeats DO count against him, I feel they put him outside the truly historically elite heavyweights ...... but he avenged them by making one opponent quit inside 5 rounds and by knocking the other one spark out.

Joshua 'avenged' a multiple knockdown stoppage defeat (where he was virtually made to quit at the end) with a good but cautious stick-and-move win against a stubby opponent.
It didn't quite make the same statement.
It was more than sufficient though. Can't really fault him much. It was a hugely risky fight to take straight off the back of that defeat.
I guess a lot of people are left wondering whether Joshua will remain a bit 'gun shy' in future fights.

Makes me laugh when I read comments like “he ran” or “on his bike”

Firstly he took the fight when just about everyone was saying he should give himself time and maybe have a confidence booster fight before triggering the rematch.

Secondly, he trained for 8 weeks to fight a certain way, he wasn’t to know Ruiz was blowing his sessions off and would turn up poorly conditioned. It would have been stupid to look at Ruiz on the night and abandon 8 weeks of preparations so he fought the fight he’d trained for.

Lastly, Joshua consistently landed big heavy power shots throughout the rematch and fought a very smart fight!
Had he just won by staying on the outside flicking out arm jabs it would be somewhat different but that’s not what he did.

the short answer to OP's question is because there are still at least one or two quality guys out there who AJ hasn't faced.

so the context of his zero unavenged defeats is completely different to the one that Lewis faced.
