Floyd beat Pac by UD and Pac is still going strong now. Floyd beating Pac is better than any of Pac's wins.

I just want to see what more Glory Past Forty he might have in him. This sitting around waiting for boxing to reopen isn't good for whatever twilight potential he may have left, though. It's already not far off a year since he beat Thurman.

 

I can name multiple Mayweather fights that are equal to or greater than each one of these wins but I will limit each one to a single fight by comparison. Let's take this apart one by one:

Barrera 1 a great win no doubt but let's be honest is it much better than retiring Genaro Hernandez? It's a wash at the very least.

De la Hoya, Pac beat up on a drawn Oscar that hadn't been at that weight since a decade earlier. Floyd beat a more active Oscar at the weight he had been effectively competing at......again for a decade.
Floyd/Oscar >>> Pac/Oscar

Pac v. Hatton was a marvelous win, but again it came after Floyd (and Collazo to a lesser extent) had already knocked the luster off of Hatton. Floyd fought an undefeated Hatton who had just destroyed the person that gave Floyd (at the time) his toughest fight ever. Floyd fought Hatton's fight, and stopped him. by the time Pac fought him, Floyd had already shown Hatton could be stopped.
Floyd/Hatton >>> Pac/Hatton

Nothing much to say about the Cotto fights, equal level of win
Floyd/Cotto = Pac/Cotto

Thurman outlanded Pac and gave him Hell, I'm tired of the revisionist history of this fight. But again, Floyd/Mosley can be considered a better win, as Shane's prior fight was a destruction of the division boogeyman (Marg) and he was the defacto other guy.
Mosley win >>> Thurman win.

Morales II, Pac beat a Morales who had just lost to Zahir Raheem. It's still a good win from a revenge standpoint, but Floyd's "revenge" in the rematch vs. Castillo is just as good.

Bradley II was overall a good win but is this a better win against an undefeated Chico Corrales (undefeated and P4P level at the time)

In conclusion, the entire premise of your argument just doesn't stand up to scrutiny. Pac's greatest wins are definitely not "greater" than any of Floyd's wins. Plus, Floyd actually beat Pac.............rather easily.

 

Pac was injured and Floyd was on PEDs.

Barrera was an elite P4P fighter and is a certified ATG and one of Mexico's finest warriors.

Pac was coming up 2 weight classes and Pac beat the **** out of Oscar. Meanwhile, Oscar made the fight very competitive w/ Floyd with many having the fight a draw and some had Floyd losing.

Pac/Oscar (wipeout) > Floyd/Oscar (very close fight)

According to your logic, Floyd fought only undefeated fighters? Floyd had a highly competitive fight w/ Cotto after severe beatings from Margarito and Pacquiao. Pac fought Hatton where he was the man and blasted him into the ice age and retirement. And Pac didn't have Joe Cortez aiding him.

No. Pac beat the **** out of Thurman. Snatched that 0. Mosley didn't have his roids. Pac became welterweight champion again for the fifth time and also became the oldest welterweight champion ever. Historical stuff.

Please. Morales went on to take Danny Garcia and Marcos Maidana into deep waters. Maidana went on to take Floyd life and death. And Morales is a certified ATG and one of Mexico's finest. He is by far higher ranked than Castillo.

Pac/Morales II > Floyd/Castillo II

Bradley was undefeated and the top dog at 140, a division of world class opponents that he cleaned out. Pac is 3-0 (officially 2-1) against Bradley who's a lock for ATG status. Bradley went on to outbox a rampaging roided Marquez who was coming off the KO of the Decade.

Pac/Bradley > Floyd/Corrales

 

With all due respect to Manny a guy like Morales is considered one of his best wins, yet Erik was coming off a loss going into every fight with Manny and only one of those times was that loss to manny which was fight III, lost to Barrera before fight I lost to Raheem before fight II. you can’t find anything like that on Floyd’s record

 

Pac ascended TWO weight classes and he DESTROYED and RETIRED Oscar. Floyd vs. Oscar was a highly competitive fight w/ many scoring it a draw and some having Oscar edging it.

 

You talk about Pac going up 7 pounds from his previous fight but ignore Floyd going up 4 pounds from his previous fight.. Then you ignore Oscar going down 5 pounds from his previous fight for Pac and staying the same weight from his previous fight with Floyd.. It's fine.. Don't @/quote me...

 

Floyd isn't one of the fighters I hold an overzealous bias in favor of. What he does in the ring speaks for itself. The original poster stated that Pac's top 7 wins were "greater" than any of Floyd's wins. I believe I successfully refuted that opinion.

There's so much wrong with your response, your bias against Mayweather screams out in this post and indeed in any topic that has Floyd/Pac, my post was, I believe fairly objective.

 

And the OP isn't? 3 of the 7 fights mentioned were fights of guys FM had already beat before Pac. Please explain the bias.

 

The OP is worse, I didn't think that had to be said. But the post I quotes was bias too.

These are just wrong, and only dressed up as correct by someone ridiculously bias for Mayweather, or against Pacquiao. Not to mention the double standards used around the Cotto and Hatton sections.

 

Mosley> than Thurman is understandable. Both fighters had a lot of similarities at the time, they both had long lay offs, both held the WBA belt, both were seen as the top 2 WW's in the division(although Mosley was seen as top 3 p4p, Thurman was nowhere close) and both fighters were seen as a threat to both Pac and Floyd at the time. Despite his age, Mosley has and always has been an objectively greater fighter than Thurman. Mosley was still a world class WW and staple in HBO boxing with a couple signature wins after his duo defeat to Forrest and only loss during that 5 year time period was a close, controversial fight with a prime Miguel Cotto who was absolutely tearing through everybody in his way. Floyd hadn't fought a ranked WW in over 3 and a half years while Pac had been competing there at a world level since moving up a decade ago. Floyd's win over Mosley was an extremely underrated win, I think people don't count it as a great win because of certain irrelevant circumstances.

Pac's win over Barrera is without a doubt greater than Hernandez, not even close.

Floyd's Castillo win over Pac's Morales win is understandable giving the circumstances, although I'd still pick Pac's win over Morales due to it being a legacy fight. Castillo was the lineal LW, beat the great Stevie Johnson in the upset of the year to claim the lineal championship and found great success after his Floyd losses, beating Corrales and Castillo a little over their primes. Morales was burnt out in his fights with Barrera and his decision win with Pacquaio. He was comprehensively outboxed by Zahir Raheem a couple months after Pac, then had to fight him again immediately after and hadn't won a fight again in over half a decade.

Pac's win over Cotto is greater due to again, being a legacy fight for Pacquaio. But Cotto looked pretty bad and should of lost his fight vs Clottey a fight before. He only won it due to Arum not wanting to mess up a Pacquaio vs Cotto mega fight. Pacquaio beat Clottey a fight after though, so it's a moot point.
