Wilder is far better than Valuev and far more powerful, Fury would have hit Valuev far more than he hit Wilder in their first bout, Wilder would have done far better v Haye also, different level, Ortiz would have toyed with Valuev and would never have been caught, Valuev was a fraud.
Of course he could! After all, if French pastry chef Johann Duhaupas could walk through and laugh off all of Wilder's best shots that landed absolute flush, then why couldn't Valuev (who has never been dropped before) also do the same and go the distance?
Valuev has a much better resume and went the distance with much better fighters than Wilder. For example, Haye (WBC and WBA champion) and Chagaev (WBA champion). He lost a very close MD to them. Valuev also beat prime Liakovitch (WBO champion), Ruiz (WBA champion), Donald, old Holyfield (doesn't count since it was a glorified sparring session in Switzerland), Mcline and Barret. Wilder only has old Ortiz and mediocre Stevern. Not only Valuev can go the distance with Wilder he can also win a UD, since Wilder can't box at all and Valuev had a very underrated jab, titanium chin, great stamina and huge height and weight advantage. Valuev made 6 foot 8 Vitaly Klitschko look like a 15 year old teenager when he stood next to him.
Ortiz would look good in the first half, but after round 5 he would be dead tired and Valuev could just club him to death. Even in Chagaev fight Valuev was still fresh and active in late rounds and threw tons of punches including body shots. Ortiz deteriorates in late rounds.
He couldn't even stop glass jaw Shpilka before 10nth. Same Shpilka, who was stopped by aging Chisora in 2.
Agreed, but Wilder's only strategy is to wait for his opponent to get tired and land 1 big shot. However, Valuev didn't get tired, especially later in his career and he could take a punch. Even when something big would land right on the button he would recover instantly. Not to mention Wilder would have to fight going backwards and he can't punch while being pressured. I can see him landing some shots on Valuev, but he won't KO him.
I see Wider breaking his right hand against Valuevs skull and then Valuev who knocks him out early within maximum 5/6 rounds. As many say if you punch him Wilder goes down.
I see wilder being tentative for a couple of rounds until he realises the slowness of valuev and teeing off on him until a mid rounds stoppage he proved vs stiverne the first fight that he can move in and out against limited opposition
Imo Valuev. Valuev had problems with certain styles but I don't think he would have a problem with Wilders style. The size and reach of Valuev, I think would give Wilder a tough time but worse than that I think is how heavy Valuev would be in clinches with Wilder. I think that would drain and weaken Wilder, who I think would be worn down and stopped between rounds 5-10 sometime Valuev was underrated I think
