Who was the more skilled out of these two?

Tommy was a phenomenal pure boxer.

You had to outfight him to beat him as he was so damn good. A masterful boxer. Then you had Nunn...

Nunn vs Tate is a fight which I think MIGHT be the best MW ever at work.

Nunn showed EVERYTHING in that fight. Tate was no joke himself, but Nunn was on another level.

Fantastic balance, combos, switch hitting, power, defensive skills, conditioning, IQ, ring generalship... THAT Nunn was tremendous. He really was sublime.

So who do you pick and why?

I like Thomas Hearns more as a boxer, always thought he was a good boxer. He seemed to get better with age, like wine. I thought he really improved as he moved up from welter, got stronger too.
More skilled? Probably Nunn, I think Hearns has better fundamentals.

Straight from Nunn's Davenport, Ia here. He is a great fighter. Tommy certainly had the better career. Does that alone make him the better fighter? Of course not. But he likely was just a bit. No shame whatsoever either way, though.

Controversial perhaps, but I think the Nunn of the Tate fight would stop Tommy. He certainly had the power to do so.

Hearns was an unbelievable boxer-puncher. The ultimate. Heck he outfeinted and outboxed Leonard for 12 rounds, quite clearly.

Nunn at his very best was as close to unbeatable as you could get though. Hideous talent.

Hearns was the man, but Nunn, he was special.

I'll agree with that, not a popular pick but it wouldn't surprise me.

Do you think he was just super driven for that one, out to prove himself, pissedd off with Tate giving him tennis shoes at the weigh in....?

Hearns. Hearns beats him too. Nunn turning into some kind of monstrous myth around here anymor.

Nunn had a three fight run where he looked destined to be the next Leonard - Tate, Roldan, and Kalambay. Why he never looked that spectacular again I couldnt say for sure, but my guess is he started to feel untouchable after Kalambay and got complacent.

Hearns P4P was far more skilled than Nunn, Benitez was more skilled than Nunn, Michael never out-boxed a fighter as defensively skilled as Wilfredo, Hearns looked great against Hagler in the first round and then injured his right hand, I pick Nunn against any version of Hearns after the Hagler fight though, he really lost his way, I don`t know if Hill was as good as Nunn, but Hearns was pretty basic in that fight anyway.

Hearns disguised his shots better than Nunn in his prime, his jab was better also, he out-jabbed Ray also.

    Beat him at what?

The Nunn that showed up against Frank Tate showed way more depth too his game than Tommy ever did.

When did Nunn get put out like a light by someone as limited as Barkley?

He also laid Kalambay out cold, someone who was better defensively than anyone you mentioned.

Benitez was better than Kalambay P4P, Nunn looked like **** against Barkley, he would be too scared of Tommy`s power, he`d be out-jabbed, Leonard ws better than Nunn P4P, Nunn was never in at that level.

Draw. Two excellent boxers, it is hard to pick one in this matchup.
