All Tua had was a left hook, and it wasn't as devastating as Tysons own left hook. Take away that left hook and Tua is nothing.. Tyson had an arsenal of punches in both hands to knock you out with. Tyson would have broken down Tua just like he did Ruddock. In a way Tua should be thankful. Taking that much punishment from Tyson usually ends a career like it did for Ruddock, who was never the same fighter.
Tyson from 86-89 would win by KO easily. 90-96 Tyson vs Tua would be 50/50 fight. Tyson 98-05 would get knocked out by prime Tua.
Man this would be one awesome toe-to-toe slugfest. The fact this never happened is a major sin of our sport.
tyson couldn't knock out james tillis or james smith etc. but he's expected to ko tua easily? ok sure, pmsl.
People are sorely mistaken thinking Tua could eat Mike's punches. He would not. He's not standing up to Mike's fast and powerful combos. Mike is better than Tua in every category.
When did Tua fight like Quick Tillis or Smith when he fought Mike? Their styles aren't remotely similar. Tua is coming to fight, and Mike is better in every department. Much faster, powerful with every punch in the book, not just a left hook, better defense. Mike's speed will be Tua's downfall.
The Tua who turned up against Lewis? Tua in 12 round UD. Tua who turned up against Rahman and Moorer? Tua in 2nd round KO Dyke Tyson was all hype
You actually think this fight goes the distance? I think Tua could take Tysons best shots. Mike couldn't take Tua's. Very interesting fight.
Tua wins. Tua had a cast iron jaw. Mike Tyson's jaw was crackable by people with less power than Tua. Tua carries power late, Tyson fades after the mid rounds. At his absolute best, Tua is a high volume power puncher. Tua stops Iron Mike. Its a styles thing. Mike is overall better, but Tua has the specific qualities to win this one.
It is a possibility Tyson is a better puncher than Ike Ibeabuchi so there is a strong possibility that it can be stopped via TKO or a UD if Tua can take those bombs. Tua on the other hand has one weapon - his left hook - and I cant ever recall seeing Tyson being vulnerable to that. He was always defensively responsible.
