Not exactly accurate, watch round 9 of Bowe Golota 2. Bowe has a moment with about a minute 20 left in the round with a nice counter right and both men were tired, but the majority of the round is controlled by golota. With 10 seconds left Bowe lands on belt line and nut job uses it to fire a three punch combo south of the border. I do not think Golota was in any imminent danger if being knocked out. As it was Golota beat Bowe so bad the referee did Bowe a great disservice by not stopping the fight. It ruined Bowe and his career ended that night.

I also had Golota win over Ruiz. Close but two knockdowns and a point deduction for Ruiz had my scorecard a 1 point winner for Andrew.

Wow! You were at Ruiz-Golota?! How cool! I heard the crowd atmosphere at that fight at MSG was similar to Bowe-Golota I eight years earlier in the same famous venue. The Riot following Bowe-Golota I was very racial (white Polish vs. African-American) but what about Ruiz-Golota? There were fistfights all over the arena that night. Chaos. From what you remember, was it Polish fans vs. Hispanics/Blacks or just one of the two? If so, who got the better of the exchanges? And I heard the Marine Corps color guard fought against Hispanic and Polish fans during Ruiz-Golota. How bad did the color guard beat up said fans?

I thought Golota should have gotten the decision. Ruiz did rally down the stretch, but Golota scored 2 knockdowns, and Ruiz had a point taken from him. That's a big 10-7 round for Golota, and I had had him winning the round which Ruiz was penalized so a 10-8 round for him also.
I've always wondered if Golota's fans cost him that fight. I know they were starting fights with Ruiz fans from what was said in the commentary, and I wondered if the judges thought, "we don't want this guy to have the title."

I had no idea that was the case, never heard it mentioned in the pre fight rules or said by the commentators. I'm always learning something new in the classic forum.

A past prime Golota won which shows you how much of a joke Ruiz was.

Whenever Golota fought it was a mess.
However he deserved to win that time.

No you’re right. If a fighter losses a point in a round it counts in that round. I’m not sure what he’s talking about. That’s why the ref always goes to each judge and tells them it’s a point off. If Ruiz would’ve won the round it would be a 9-9 round if he losses it then he losses it 10-8 just like you thought.

Not only did Golota deserve the decision in the Ruiz fight (and the Byrd fight, as well), but the scorecards were insanely bad.

Two judges only gave Golota 3 of the 12 rounds (so basically, they only gave him the two rounds where he knocked Ruiz down and the round when Ruiz lost a point).

One gave him 4 of the 12 rounds.

If a fighter losses a point but wins the round the round is scored 9-9. This is the way it’s always been. Points are deducted in the round the referee deducts them.

Um, wrong.... Here, go to :50 seconds in. Steve Albert even explains a point taken off means a 9-8 round for Tyson since he scored a knock down. It’s you that clearly know nothing about the rules.

Winner of the round gets 10 points unless a point is deducted. I’ve seen lots of “real” scorecards yes. I’ve been watching boxing for almost 40 years. I’m not sure what’s so hard to understand here. If a ref deducts a point YOU LOSE A POINT. If you win the round 10-9 but lose a point the round is then even 9-9. I’m not sure how much clearer or easier to understand I can make it. :D

And Steve Albert is one of the famous Albert brother. Steve, Marv and Al all called boxing matches for years!!!!! Do you really not know them??? Are you new to the sport?

Also when you quote me why are you adding your thoughts to my quote? Just quote me and then respond.

ok I’m done, you’re clearly clueless and reasoning with you is like talking to a brick wall. If you don’t even know who the Albert brothers are then I’ve forgotten more about boxing then you’ll ever know.

Why do you feel the need to try and insult me? The very first thing you said in response to me on the first post was an insult, you’re trying to insult me on every post. The first response you had after I showed you video evidence of the fact that a round can be scored with a 9 to the round winner was “you clearly know nothing about scoring” So I’m done with you, there are too many good people on here to debate with to waste my time on you.

I didn’t try to humiliate you at all. I was just stating facts, you sound like a very insecure person. Be well, I’m done with this now.
