Not sure, but seems likely. Never really studied Ruddock's training and dieting methods (aside from smash documentaries). We're talking about a guy who made his debut weighing a mere 183 lbs at 18 and was still only 203 lbs as a 21 year old professional and he had already reached his full height of 6'3. In ONE YEAR he jumped up from 209 to 216 in 1986 then all of a sudden a couple years later in 1990 he's a jacked 230+ with bulky calves, big chest and shredded abs. Not accusing him of anything, but either way it's obvious he abandoned speed, flexibility and cardio for strength training. Nobody can gain weight that fast without doing extreme weight lifting, chowing down on food, or taking steroids (or all of the above).

He clearly paid the price as you said. Boggles my mind that he'd abandon such a good jab when it ironically could have helped set up the punch he was so obsessed with. If he kept his speed and added a decent right cross, he would have been a force to be reckoned with h2h.

Yes, but Wlad deserves to be mentioned as one of the tall guys (SHWs) wiith the best lead hook.
Overall you find a few that have a better lead hook, but how many modern SHWs have such a good lead hook?
