There is no way on earth Bowe gave those answers. Not the way they are written down anyway.! Too many big words for big daddy
I don't think he was scared of punchers. He faced 6'7'' Jorge Luis Gonzalez who was 23-0, with 22 KOs at the time and who beat him in the amateurs. Well, not only did Gonzalez beat him, he has dropped Bowe 4 times in one of their fights. If the referee from Olympic finals was working at this fight he would stop it immidiately after Bowe got dropped HARD (and no one would question the stoppage): This content is protected
No. I said that in this case i can agree with him but what i meant was that usually EVERYBODY will pick as his best rival a fighter that they did beat.
Holy`s defense wsn`t that good v Bowe, he got hit loads in all three bouts though he blocked a lot more shots in the second fight and used more movement at times.
I agree swagman! I never was a fan of the big goofy booger pickin' garbage man or his trouble making racist buffoon of a manager Rock Newman.
Actually I just rewatched the 2nd fight yesterday, and my respect for Bowe skyrocketed. Not for the fight itself really, but the aftermath. While he was being interviewed, he refused to make any excuses whatsoever (and he had a number of things to choose from such as his pregnant wife being sent to the hospital, fan-man, etc) for his loss and didn't take anything away from Holy's performance.
I’m not a Bowe fan but I still think think the best versions of both men faced off in fight one and Bowe won that clearly (Evander made it tough for him though). Of course Holyfield is the greater fighter but stylistically Bowe has an edge on him. In saying that Holyfield would do better than Bowe would against some other great fighters, particularly the biggest punchers in return. Anyway Riddicks comments here ring very true to me. How the hell couldn’t you be massively impressed by Holyfield?
Bowe was beating Lewis before that bull**** stoppage. People still act like Lewis was better than Bowe. Lewis came to his own way later in their careers.
I actually disagree that the best version of Holyfield was in the first fight. I thought he was at his best in the rematch. He may have lost some speed but he compensated in other ways (bigger, stronger, hit harder, etc) But he lost to Bowe because he went toe to toe instead of boxing him. In the second fight, utilizing a stick and move strategy he beat Bowe. In the third fight he was sick. So I don't think it's really fair to say Bowe had his number as many do.
