At the gym of course we use all different weight bags(I have no clue how much they weigh thought), but I just want to get one general purpose bag to have at home.

I weight about 200lbs. I have seen 2 general recommendations the first is 50% of what you weigh is a good general purpose bag. So that would mean 100lbs.

The other I heard is a 150lb bag is ideal for someone my size.

What do you all think? Thanks a lot. (if you have a recommendation for brands that would be nice too).

I think you should get a100 lbs bag first and then if it's too light for you then get a 150 lbs bag.

Is that what most HWs use? I am not a beginner I have been boxing for many years and have solid power for a amateur HW.

I only know that Mike Tyson used a 300 lbs bag at age 13 otherwise I guess that they usually use a bag around 100 - 300 lbs.

What are you trying to accomplish? If your goal is to become a slapping, arm puncher that slaps the bag instead of punching through the target, all while wrecking your shoulders, then get the absolute heaviest bag that you can find, one that won't move at all when you hit it.

No. This is why I asked what you guys think is the general weight of a bag used by a HW. I have no idea what the normal sized bag is. All I saw was a bunch of forum posts saying that 100 is to small for someone my size.

You want the bag to move; that makes you move. So it is better from an exercise standpoint, and that is also how you start the process of learning how to fight a body.
100 pounds is a good amount of weight. Probably not enough for a guy your size to push around, but probably enough for you to punch and send it flying.
You want the bag to move when you hit with a jab, not stuff your arm back into your neck. You want it to move every time you hit it and you control the movement by moving your feet and changing the angle.
That's my long winded way of saying 100 pounds is heavy enough
