In most sports the current guys are better than previous eras, why would boxing be any different?

Wilder's agility is ass. He's always falling over his own feet and has awful balance.

    Agreed.

He seemed nice before the move to Napoli, then turned into a scumbag.

Do you follow the modern game? I don't. I'm stuck in the 90's to early 00's. The money killed it for me.

    Exactly.

    The point is:

He can’t possibly know. But he thinks he is right, because he thinks that the sport progresses each decade. So he thinks that the 2060 champion will beat the 2050 champion. Basically, he’s a fool.

The money has killed it for sure.

I don’t think I’ve watched MOTD for about 10 years.

    I grew up watching it.

Football Italia, FF, MOTD, all of the SKY games as well La Liga etc.

Dude it is a total logical flaw of yours to compare writing books to boxing, especially when you are telling me that i cant compare sprinting with boxing. But you simply dont adress that. And you didnt adress to thing with mayweather.

Ko percentage: yes you are right. It could be that boxers are worse at defense or the contests are waved off earlier, but I dont think that thats the case, because this is on going since the 90s. at some point the precentages should have moved back a little but that didnt happen.
We went from a ko ratio in the high 70% range to middle 80% and 2 years ago we had 2 hw champs with a combined ko ratio of 95% or so.
Even foreman and tyson had a few ud here and there before they lost the first time.

Kownacki is a fat **** and if their wouldnt be fury and wilder i would not hold such a high opinion on to days heavies. Fury and Wilder operate on a different level and emmanuel steward realized that very early and was absolut right with his prediction.

sorry but that 2 right hand is just mayweather ****. I never saw a 6‘7 guy pull that of.
And the first one was beyond agile look at the slow mo. You can see how he throws his whole body into the punch and twists his whole torso. He also has very little pull back on his right hand. Almost as little as wlad.
You can say that that is not text book like pinching but it is dynamic and agile for sure.

Most sport advances are based on physical development. That’s mitigated by weight classes.

    Snap.

I remember thinking when players hit the £10-30 million mark, and I thought “I don’t like this game now...”.

    Thanks.

    You too.

    We were lucky weren’t we.

I used to watch MOTD, tape it, (I’m showing my age) and then watch it again the following day.

If you want to compare boxing to another sport compare it to chess. Sprinting has very little correlation.

I don't disagree with you about Mayweather, but I'm talking about HWs here so he's not applicable.

I will agree that HWs from the 80s and 90s onwards have tended to show a lot more explosiveness, which might account for the larger number of knockouts compared to earlier eras. But has there really been such an upward progression from there to now? I don't see it personally.

Wilder is what makes you think so highly of this current bunch? Wilder?

I can see what you mean, but when a fighter's balance is so poor as Wilder's can you really call them agile? Wilder is explosive and quick and can be very accurate with his right hand, but he's also literally fallen over his own feet when throwing shots.

That second punch was actually pretty impressive, though.

Theres no point arguing with this delusional guy called ertwin. He said in Another thread that that Crawford would stop ray robinson in 2 rounds. He is absolutely clueless and says anything to try and prove that modern boxers are superior, it´s like a religion for him. Im mind blown that that guy hasn´t been booted.
