South of 140, who was the more skilful boxer out of Floyd Mayweather & Roberto Duran?

Mayweather, south of 140, was a beast. Duran needs no introduction, but Floyd is not to be overlooked here, IMHO.

But what about Benitez? He schooled Duran in their primes?

Duran slipped punches on the front foot.

Mayweather slipped punches on the back foot.

One is better than the other.

Mayweather used his natural physical advantages - height, reach, speed, strength, awkward structure, long forearms, elbows, fast feet, good legs, loose joints, rope a dope behind the high shoulder etc.

    Duran used rhythm.

Duran was the more skilled. Because he was the total package.

Duran: Highly skilled offensively and defensively.

Floyd was a defense first fighter who often threw single punches. Suppremely skilled defensively and perhaphs with the highest boxing IQ ever.

Their equal to each other in skill. Just different styles.

This won't end well, but the objective answer is that both had supremely high skill-sets in their respective styles.

Floyd's skill-set is better compared to other defensive fighters, while Duran's skill-set is better compared to other offensive fighters.

My answer is more simple: Duran.

I was trying to be generous to Floyd, but I think you know that I agree with your answer.

Different skill sets so hard to define “more skilled”. Duran more offensively skilled, Mayweather more defensively skilled but Duran’s defensive skills are far ahead of Floyd’s offensive skills hence why he’s a better all around fighter who’d do better vs. more styles and eras and wouldn’t have to be as selective and specific as to who he could and could not fight.

I don't know that I actually care - all I know is that Duran was greater.
