Because Jones was definitely on roids for the Ruiz fight ( just look at his huge traps and shredded physique, adding 18 pounds of muscle ) he should have stayed at a high weight because when he got off the roids to go down in weight it probably destroyed his testosterone levels. Explains why he looked so flat from then on at 175. And im not hating, i think Jones is a cool guy but he was definitely juiced up at HW

Yes, he maintained his physique in the hope of having the right fight at HW after Ruiz.

His team had negotiated with Evander and Tyson, and he briefly considered fighting Sanders.

When he signed for Tarver in September, he was still between 195-200 pounds, with a low percentage of body fat.

Also, he weighed more than 193 pounds for Ruiz.

I can show the video if you want.

    No, you tell me.

    The onus is on you.

You have listed the guys, so back up what you’ve said.

Roid Jones was juiced to his eyeballs for Ruiz and many other bouts. To drop 18lbs of pure muscle, no water or fat is difficult to do. He probably had to lay off the juice to accomplish it and it affected his performance in the Tarver bouts. He should of retired after the horrible KO. His chin if it ever was good was totally destroyed by that punch.

I don’t follow. He didn’t have to dry out for the Ruiz weigh in. If he did, he would’ve been in the mid 180s at least. He looked bulky against Ruiz, not totally shredded.

Tarver had to weight drain for the Hopkins fight after he filmed the Rocky movies and look what happened to him. When Chris Byrd went down to Light Heavy at the end of his career he couldn’t take a punch after successfully fighting as a HW his entire career. The weight draining that Jones underwent wasn’t an excuse for his losses, it was the reason.

Tarver followed the Hopkins fight with success. Roy followed the Tarver fight with getting his lights put out by Tarver in the rematch. Byrd was shot which you conveniently left out.

You disgust me with this agenda fitting line of reasoning.

Bulky but still looked lean for Ruiz no fat. But I have to watch again haven’t seen it in 20 years. I actually thought Roy looked much better in tarver rematch until tarver dropped the anvil on him.

You listed the guys who Roy supposedly could have fought.

I asked you for some form of evidence to back up your claim.

    You can’t provide any.

That means what you wrote is nonsense.

Don’t make claims that you can’t back up.

    It makes you look foolish.

    What a joker you are.

    You’re disgusted with his agenda?

YOU are the one with an agenda.

Antonio Tarver had a full year out of the ring afterwards, before coming back and dropping down a level.

Chris Byrd went from fighting A level HW’s, to been knocked out by a C class LHW who’d only had about 20 fights.

Chad Dawson also suffered the same fate against Andre Ward.

That’s 3 other fighters who all struggled after burning muscle.

I agree. Roy wasn’t dried out for the Ruiz weigh in though. He was probably carrying around a lot of water weight as is common for steroid use.

Yes, swaths of legit fighters typically duck career high paydays whereas firemen and blown up lightweights are up for the task. FOH.

Byrd was shot and Dawson was much worse than Ward and too chinny for Adonis.

It’s interesting how Canelo can fight in any of three weight classes while passing VADA. Very interesting.
