I think this quote's been taken out of context.

It's not a case of, well, I could have ended things at any stage but, yeah, I didn't feel like it. It's more a case of getting the job done according to the gameplan they devised, which was to box from the outside and not expose Joshua to needless risks. Essentially he's saying opportunities came up where he could have opened up on Ruiz, but considering what happened last time he did that it wasn't the smartest tactic.

Bit of a silly thing to say regardless though, as it's so open to being twisted. Joshua needs to make a statement in his next fight or his reputation will start to take a bit of downslide.

Stupid thing to say, if he could if he would of, he won, didn’t take any damage and regained the belts, which is all that needed to be done.

Yeah, that's just AJ bigging himself up to try and change the perspective of what happened. It was such a crucial fight in terms of his career, as losing to a porker twice by KO would've have derailed him for quite a while, if not forever. He was quite right to fight like he did, as now he can move on to big money fights, one's he would have lost out on if he got beat again. However, he wasn't gonna knock out Ruiz in that fight, or even try to if the opportunity arose as he would probably get dropped again or knocked out himself

AJ can neither box or punch as well as Hearns did in his respective division when out jabbing Leonard who was also better than Ruiz, AJ is delusional and was scared of Ruiz.

Ruiz has a good and is better than a number of fighters that made it past the 7th round against Lewis, check Lewis`s record for how many fighters went past 7 against him, most of Lewis`s shots were jabs, keeping fighters at range until they made a mistake.

Yeah, no. Ruiz expected him to try to come right at him again, AJ was clearly hesitant to do so again.
