At both light heavy and heavy. And don't give me none of this "Conn was too small for Moorer" crap. Conn, for those who are prone to forgetting, went 13 rounds with a prime Joe Louis who would have knocked Moorer senseless. So yes, he has a great chance against Moorer. Conn by close decision at light-heavyweight. Southpaws are always tricky. I feel like Conn is one of the most slick and fundementally sound boxers ever, however, and i think he will be able to outbox Moorer in a close fight. Conn UD 9-6 or 8-7
The key here would be Billy Conn's footwork. Side to side, stay out of Moorer power lanes. MM was a devastating powepuncher. Perhaps the most damaging we have ever seen. Conn had a tough neck. It's a good fight. Billy just needs to survive that first round. Moorer was a tornado.
I really wish we would have seen Moorer against Hill or Maske instead of WBO mandatories. It would make a prediction much easier in this matchup. A lot of X factors with MM. We will never truly know how good he was at 175 because for whatever reason, he didn't get to fight the other top guys at 175.
Conn beat 10 future or former world champs during his career...and he ALMOST beat Joe Louis in June 1941...
On the whole I find both very overrated, that said Conn is coming from a higher point to begin with and I think his footspeed lets him escape Moorer (which wasn't hard) and his hand speed lets him beat MM to the punch in a similar way to how he did with Louis. As said, Moorer is very deadly early, and Conn would have to adapt to the southpaw left hand, but I don't think it troubles him that much after a few rounds. Let's not forget that Moorer was down on points and IMO looked pretty dreadful vs Leslie Stewart... that's a guy who lost to a shot Pops and was stopped in 5 by Danny Lalonde FFS!
