You're right, they're are lots of people that go overboard. I guess I just think Tyson's less deserving of it.

I've always thought that Bonecrusher's ko of Tim was highly suspect, and have often wondered how authentic Tim's Don King excuse really was.

I don't think Tim ever fought the way he fought that night in his whole career, it was a total anomaly. Maybe he did throw that fight.

It's a very strange fight isn't it. Somewhat surreal to watch for me.

I don't think it was a fix. It wasn't like Tim showed up out of shape. He looked bigger than usual vs. Tubbs, and was even more overweight vs. Bruno, so his being out of shape vs. Smith is really no surpise.

I do see Tim throwing THAT right with serious intent a few times. It's just...as John said, it's surreal watching it. It's hard for me to reconcile the Tim who solidly beat Smith losing that bad, and that quickly.

If Tim is in shape and focused then Tyson by decision. Good matchup. But the reality is that if Witherspoon had gotten by Smith in Dec. 86 and then fought Tyson to unify, his head likely wouldn't be right and hed get knocked out. I'd like to think Witherspoon would have been motivated to beat Mike but I doubt it. When he got new management and got back in shape, Don wasn't about to give him a shot.

It wasnt just that he was in poor shape at 233 LBS. More importantly his mind wasnt right.

It wasnt a pre planned fix like you see in the movies.

I wish that Witherspoon had fought Tyson rather than Smith. Witherspoon was a good fighter, but he had nothing that would trouble a prime Tyson.

Bruno ran Witherspoon very close and at times it looked like a stoppage of Witherspoon was imminent. If Bruno was a better finisher, it might have happened.

Witherspoon was in poor shape for that match though. I doubt an in-shape Spoon would win more handily.
