Beat me to it: not only is Norton overall the better fighter, but Weaver knows it and Kenny has a psychological edge. I think Weaver really looked up to him and unlike Larry Holmes who felt similarly with Ali, Weaver wouldn’t ever outgrow that.

(I think if Larry fought Ali at any point past Shavers I he would have brought everything he had and believed he could beat The Greatest, and would ... which shows by how sharp and in shape he was when fighting a faded Ali.)

As a rule of thumb, I always take the big puncher vs Norton.. Weaver nu KO.

Weaver had Tyson-level power, but a bizarre seeming lack of motivation and concentration. Sometimes it looked like he was almost sleepwalking through fights. I do think Norton would have gotten some great shots in, but all Mike needed was to land the left or right flush, and Ken tended to come in all the time.

On the other hand, Ken could have easily outlasted Mike.

Ken by unanimous decision, but he would have to take some powerful shots to get there. The fight could still conceivably go to Weaver...but Mike would have to be Holmes-level amped up for it. The Weaver who beat Tillis would get stopped.
