I agree with that. He'd changed his normal fight style totally in there against George. He knew he had to, going in guns blazing would have found him flat out!
I see ur points George, maybe Tommy gives it away by fighting like he did against Foreman but idk, guns blazing against Max may totally work against him, Schmeling could be an intelligent fighter, he may turn that to his advantage. But Tommy using his brain a little and boxing rather than blasting may make him tougher to beat, if you get my drift.
What he said to his team beforehand was "if I am not throwing, then I am going." That was a smart fight strategy!
Morrison early or Scheming sometime after the 6th round. 50/50 Morrison fought in one of the best eras at heavyweight, the division was loaded with punchers, some of whom were durable or very skilled big men.
Morrison rips Schmeling to pieces. Schmeling would be holding on to the ropes once he eats a bodyshot. Morrison in the post-fight interview, "I was hitting him with body punches, and I hurt him. Actually, he was crying in there, making woman gestures, like, 'ooh-uh-uh!' . . . I knew that he was breaking down soon."
If he was in the same kind of shape as the Foreman fight and boxed Mercer instead of trying to take his head off I think Tommy would have beaten him by decision.
Morrison was an exciting talent within his own era. However, by comparison to Schmeling, Morrison was an artificially enhanced drugs cheat who could never have existed during the days of Max Schmeling. Ultimately I cast my vote based on the best fighter both beat. The best guy Schmeling beat was leagues ahead and more advanced than the best guy Morrison beat.
The voting s a lot closer than I expected. I thought Schmeling may have been a good few ahead, even though I personally think Tommy takes it.
In order to fight each other They have to exist at the same time. In a level field, both Void of roids, Morrison gets snuffed out quite easily. Schmeling on the same stuff as Morrison would be a clear win for Max.
