I just read an interview with Abel Sanchez about Gassiev's move to heavyweight and one of the more intriguing names that he thew out as an opponent that they would like to fight is Andy Ruiz.

On paper, this looks like an excellent fight. It will be interesting to see how Gassiev's power translates at heavy and If Ruiz has learned his lesson and comes in shape. I think he has the hand speed to be a huge problem for anyone.

Who do you have if this fight comes off?

I’d take Ruiz late ,Gassiev stands right in front of you .Ruiz took AJ punches and most would have been stopped even in the first round in the rematch. Gassiev would have to put on a relentless attack and land. I see Gassiev running out of steam and getting stopped between round 9or 10. Not sure it’s a smart move to pick a durable guy with speed and weight advantage by a large margin as a first fight in a new weight class , even Usyk knew to take a small step to adjust .

Need to see Gassiev fight a bit at HW before commenting.

I agree. Ruiz is not an easy fight at all. He did say in the interview that they would take a tune up first since Gassiev has been out if the ring for two years now. Kowalski was also mentioned as an opponent.

I pick ruiz . gassievs style requires him to sit on his punches alot. Gassiev is really explosive with his attacks. Pros and cons

Pros. His style and engine can wear down bigger heavyweights with shitty gas tanks

Cons. Requires to sit on his punches leaving himself open to the punches of the bigger heavyweights

Head to head. I pick ruiz his counters and hand speed at close range is just deadly

But maybe just maybe gassiev can transfer his power better at heavyweight

I think with both of their styles, Gassiev CAN sit on his shots because Ruiz isn't a mover. I've got Ruiz though, if he had discipline he'd still be world champion, even with Joshua's adjusting

To me it looks like Ruiz would have lost to AJ even if he was in better shape. He’ll always have slow feet and a massively inferior reach. AJ knows how to beat him and the style that will beat him almost always. Ruiz has a better chance against guys like Whyte and Wilder who can’t box and move.

Man Vs food or man vs blob comes to mind. Gassiev would be a first course meal for Ruiz. He literally gobbled up all the bodybuilder's punches for 19 rounds with ease!

What the hell is going on?
    People are picking Taco tits?
The whole ''Gassiev might not handle HW'' shouldn't exist here since Ruiz is the smallest HW out there. If Gassiev was fighting a SHW, maybe, but Ruiz isn't even a real HW.
Gassiev is naturally bigger than Ruiz. He's taller and more muscular. It's almost impossible Ruiz hits as hard since Gassiev is considered by HWs to be a huge puncher and Ruiz was never considered a huge puncher by HWs.
Gassiev is also faster and likely more skilled.
Gassiev has sparred HWs quite a bit, including Wilder, so I doubt Ruiz will phase him at all.

In fact I think Gassiev is going to beat the living **** out of Ruiz if they fight. If he can land on Usyk you better believe he can land on the obese Snickers addict, who only looks 'fast' when he's facing huge, long limbed guys.

Maybe mate. People want a heavyweight with his attributes to stand and blast though, he's gonna turn everyone off if he starts back footing it. Thinking about it, he does move to much with the return fight for any Ruiz. I stand corrected lol
    Any ruiz

I'd be shocked if his first two bouts weren't with a couple of useless opponents, so I doubt we would learn much.

2 fighters with big unknowns, how will Gassiev look and move at heavyweight, what will Ruiz look like, tub of lard or a fighter. On paper I'd say Ruiz, but not enough to bet on.

    I’d take Gassiev over Kownacki.

By the time the fight happens Gassiev will look like Ruiz. He is gaining weight fast.
