I don't have a link because I read them in a boxing mag, probably KO or World Boxing. (Maybe both, since they were sister publications.)
Yeah, Lefthook and myself were talking about this fight a few months ago. If Ruddock made it out of the round, he would have had a great chance to win...Morrison looked totally gassed. I don't think Ruddock was a superman or anything, but he won big and lost big...and he didn't back down from anyone. I like that. I liked his attitude.
Lewis was on the back foot for most of round one against Ruddock; then at the end he sparked him with that counter-right hand and from then on started being more aggressive. That was why Ruddock was more subdued in round one than in the Tyson fights, just as he was more subdued whenever he didn't have someone coming straight at him.
Good fight for maybe a round or to but Ruddock's smash is more powerful than anything in Briggs arsenal and Razor has the edge in durability and especially recuperative abilities. Ruddock at his best, pre Lewis was a step above Shannon Briggs. Ruddock KO 3.
Ruddock's fights against Tyson impress me more than anything Shannon Briggs did in his entire career.
I actually feel like briggs would drop Ruddock at some point early on and then get brutally KO'd in the 6th after taking several smash punches
This fight actually could've happened in the late 90s. Ruddock was staging a comeback and Briggs wouldve had nonissue signing up to fight a washed up big name. I think Ruddock got hepatitis and went back into retirement.
