Depends on whether you are talking about appearance or reality.

Appearance is that Wilder was a champion with nine successful defenses, one against Fury himself, an insane KO ratio that makes him the new Ernie Shavers, and a status from the press as one of the "big three heavyweights."

The reality is that his "world title" was won from a morbidly obese high-end club fighter, he had nine defenses against part-time fighters and medically unfit, he got an undeserved draw against a 50% Fury, we don't know about Wilder's REAL power because of his bum-fights and even fixed fights, and we just don't know if the guy is even as good as Ruiz, Whyte, Povetkin, or Parker, because we have no gauge.

We don't know what the ultimate, final reality of it is, because Wilder is too much of a work of fiction. The narrative will be worked out over the next decade or so. Talk to you then.

I rate it as like Maidana over Broner

It was a good but not great win based on the opponents ability level but due to the nature of the opponenent we all loved it and will remember it for decades to cone

Yeah more satisfying than anything else I think, both Wilder and Broner were overrated mouthy idiots who got a monumental beat down (especially Wilder) and exposed for the hype jobs they are.

Yeah time will tell, my suspicion is Wilder will be shown to be a massive hype job and take another loss or two over the next couple of years. But, Fury will always be the man that exposed him and get the credit there obviously.

Wilder is the hardest puncher in mma history.

    It’s a good win.

When he won a belt I actually thought Wilder was going to go on to do great things, but after the substandard choice of title defences he completely lost me as a fan.

He did beat Ortiz though, we will never know exactly how good Ortiz was, but a lot of people did rate him highly, so it is a good win.

Fury beat Wilder twice, it’s sad to see we are being made to watch a third fight when it’s already been made more than clear that Wilder is just not at that level.

Not enough to make Fury an ATG HW, but enough to make him the clear cut #1 HW in the world.

Wilder was always overrated tbh. He avoided top opposition and fought D level heavyweights even after winning a world title. I think Ruiz, Whyte, Parker all have great chances of beating him. He’s not anywhere near AJ or Fury’s level.

    It's a good win because:

    1. No one else, to date, was able to beat him
    2. He basically won 17 out of 19 rounds in 2 fights.
    3. Whether you like him or not, Wilder was a long reigning titlist and was either 1,2,3 in the rankings.

It's a pretty good win but doesn't necessarily put him number one in the division. For me that's still to be worked out between him and Joshua.

Great win for sure. I’d rather not be one of the morons that quickly dismiss a victory especially when the majority were picking against Fury. It’s the same nonsense from the same idiotic losers with Pacquiao’s victory of De La Hoya, Hopkins’ victory over Tarver, Martinez’ victory over Pavlik, Pavlik’s victory over Taylor, Alvarez’ victory over the tomato can devourer and Kovalev, Barrera’s victory over Hamed...etc

Well, Fury became the #1 Ring contender when all he did was draw with Wilder. And Fury became the Ring World Champion for a second time when he beat Wilder.

So, of course, it was a quality win.

Wilder has done himself no favours at all with his pathetic excuses, and he refusal to acknowledge he was well beaten ( twice comfortably in my opinion ).
When you couple this with his padded record and one dimensional way of ‘boxing’ he was a poor champion.
Fury on the other hand looks very good but tougher tests surely lie ahead. It’s difficult to judge TF until he faces Joshua & other hungry fighters, with bit more nous than a very overrated Wilder.
