Bowe by mid-round stoppage. He'll absorb more punishment than necessary in the process because that's what one of Riddick's trademarks was, but Sanders had crappy conditioning which would probably come back to bite him in this one. I think Bowe simply outlasts, and then outguns him once Corrie gasses. Riddick may not have fought smart, but he was durable enough to outlast Sanders' initial threat IMO. It is intriguing that Bowe never beat a good big heavyweight, but that's not enough for me to pick a frontrunner like Sanders over him.
The Bowe that fought Holyfield would upset many champions.. he had everything that night, and he was in peak shape..
He BEAT an ATG in that series. Did you forget that part? How many fighters are capable of beating a prime Evander Holyfield in a trilogy? Not many. Let's go further. Bowe never lost to anyone like Nate Tubbs or Hasim Rahman. In fact, the only fighter Bowe lost too was Evander Holyfield(who, he beat twice). Corrie Sanders is a career journeyman, with one herculean like effort. Bowe is a career world class fighter.
Sanders could be in the shape of his life, and Bowe could be fat as hell, and Riddick STILL knocks his ass out! Both at thier bests.... Bowe KO 2.
Agenda time again :happy:happy:happy No version of Sanders stands a chance against Bowe. Sanders was average but became great because he beat WALDO and knocked VITLAY on his arse....all this in his late 30's atsch
Outside of Holyfield, who was thought of more as a placeholder type champ at the time, who the **** did he ever beat? Bruce Seldon? A coked-up, "thanks for the paycheck" Mike Dokes? The guy's resume is paper thin. He ducked Lewis like a dog and missed out on a bevy of heavyhitters to defend against the Herbie Hides, Dokes and Ferguson's of the world. Then, during what should have still been his prime, he gets destroyed twice by the force of nature known as Golota. Some all time great.
Suzie Q do u know the difference Between A TKO and a KO?! Sanders wasn't KO'd by Rahman and held onto the ropes when they dropped each other.
Sanders would definitely drop him early but he'd weather the storm and outwork Sanders up on the inside as the rounds go by. Though at range is where Sanders will be incredibly dangerous for Bowe Bowe by stoppage round 9
Sanders has the speed, size, movement to give Bowe real problems and with Bowe's porous defence I can definitely see Sanders finding Bowe's chin early. Bowe going down early is quite probable, especially as Sanders would probably be the hardest puncher Bowe would have faced. But Bowe for all his flaws was tough, he had tremendous heart, Golota beat him so badly both times especially in the 2nd fight, how he didn't get KO'ed is beyond me, his heart kept him in the fight even when getting beaten from pillar to post and I think Bowe's heart would see him ride out the danger in the early rounds and gradually Bowe would simply out tough Sanders. It might be a lot like the Sanders/Rahman fight where Sanders does well early but eventually Bowe finds Sanders chin enough times to stop him.
As usual this forum is true to type. If I mention the Golota smashing that Bowe got people will howl that wasn't a prime Bowe. In the same breath they will say Sanders was out of steam after 3 rounds and that Bowe would KO him early. As if end of the road Sanders is "prime". Meanwhile Pierre Coetzer, a fighter an order of magnitude worse than Sanders who by comparison couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag, took Bowe to round 7 and had to be socked repeatedly in the nutsack to get him out of there. A peak version of Sanders would give Bowe all he could handle, take it to the bank.
Check out the thread i made about Golota vs Bowe. Riddick Bowe came in almost 20 pounds overweight for the first fight. In the rematch Bowe trimmed down and actually did far better, as a matter of fact if you watch that fight Bowe lost the first 2 rounds, outboxed and outworked Golota in round 3, and then beat down Golota in round 4. He was ahead on the scorecards before Golota repeatedly threw lowblows in round 4. And no Bowe was not in his prime. Bowe even in the mediocre performance against Coetzer was quicker and more coordinated than he was against Golota. This content is protected Also Coetzer repeatedly fought Bowe in the pocket. Im not sure Sanders would have success doing that without getting clipped and put down.
