What’s the worst fight for the heavyweight championship?

I’d have to put Timid Tim Witherspoon against Tired Tony Tubbs up there at or near the top.

Has there ever been a more boring display of the Sleepy Science? A less interesting, more slothful display for one of the most cherished prizes in all of sport?

I'm afraid there are a few dozen more sorrier than Witherspoon-Tubbs. At least that fight was hard-fought. What do you mean by worst title fights? Just dull and insignificant in general or terrible because a champ struggled with a bum in what was still a thriller?

Wlad vs Ruslan Chagaev. Possibly the worst fight in pugilistic history. Wlad kept hitting Ruslans right jab....unable or unwilling to try something else.

Skelton against Chagaev always stands out in my mind when this question comes up. Horrendous fight.

Lewis v Akinwande, Bonecrusherv Tyson for the same reason and Tyson v Bruno two because after the 1st round of that overhyped fight Bruno held on for dear life.

You guys have highlighted some dull ones. But Foreman vs. Crawford Grimsley was unbelievably boring. I literally grabbed a pillow, turned it off after round 6. Frazier vs. Terry Daniels, Foreman vs. Roman, Ali vs. Wepner, Holmes vs. Evangelista were all fights I didn't like because the champs were fighting nobodies. Nobody cared about that trash and nobody does now.

Looking at just any title fight, Ruiz vs Rahman was awful.

In terms of a proper genuine HW championship fight I always hated Ali vs Young.

Spoon vs Tubbs was bad. But anything involving Valuev was pretty horrible

At least Young proved something. Young showed an awesome jab and countepunching, and made Ali miss with every trick in the book. That night was in all actuality one of the best of Young's career.

Dempsey-Carpentier has to be up there. Anytime one fighter is instructed to carry the other results are compromised.
