I pick Toney on the basis that prime for prime he's clearly a greater talent, in almost every way measurable.

He outboxed better men, he knocked out better men, he beat bigger men, he beat greater men.

But as I said before, the version of toney we're talking about here should rely have been a dominant force at LHW, at the very least playing second fiddle to Jones, at the very best finding that well timed shot that Tarver would later find. However we know the reality was different.

So in a fantasy fight I pick Toney with great confidence.

In terms of what would have happened in real life, a Froch victory is something I could envision.

At 168, any version of Toney (except possibly for the Jones fight) beats Froch.Toney was at his best at 168. Carl did not have the hand or foot speed to beat Toney

Yeah I've already said peak for peak Toney beats Froch.

Doesn't change that in real life Froch has an outside chance of catching Toney on an off day and winning a decision (its impossible to knock Toney out)

Again, I’ve no problem with that opinion. But you initially said that there’s no way that Liles and Watson would have been able to have beaten him.

Can you not see how you exaggerated?

Can you not see how those 2 statements are completely different from each other?

James only had 6/7 LHW fights because he wasn’t disciplined when he was in his late 20’s.

Yes, it’s possible that Carl could have won. But I don’t see it for 2 reasons:

    1. Carl had an aggressive style.

    2. There’d have been fireworks in the pressers and the weigh-in etc.

It wouldn’t have been a technical fight at LHW like the Griffin fights.

It would have been just another fight, like the Tiberi fight was where he was fighting every month or so.

Unless he hadn’t have trained at all where he’d have been in horrible shape, I’d have confidently picked him.

I don't have a top 10...but any list of boxers in the 165-170 needs Greb in the top 3 at least. RJJ is probably number 1. Froch is one of my favorite boxers, but he's below Greb, RJJ, Calzaghe, Toney, Ward off the top of my head..

You can guarantee that toney shows up when he has respect for a fighter. Zero examples of the contrary

    LMAO!

I hope you're not being serious.

The Toney of the Barkley and Williams fights would give Froch a HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE beating.

And no other super middleweights beat Froch???? Really???

    Roy Jones? Joe Calzaghe?

You seem to overrate Froch on an astronomical level.

False. Toney was better as a supermiddleweight.

The Barkley and Charles Williams fights were Toney's two apex performances.

And now I'm gonna go from slamming Carl Froch to defending him.

What? Near Lucas and Richie Woodhall?

Froch vs Charles Brewer would have been a good fight.

Froch vs Lacey would have been a cracker too, nowhere near the one sided beating Calzaghe was.

Yes he likely would have but he would have taken more stick than Joe IMO.

Anyone can beat anyone. I wouldn't favour those two to beat Carl.
