I feel this vid shows how Toney would have beat Norton`s guard better than Ali did, how ineffective is the cross guard overall?

Nothing to do with cross guard, its just Holyfield's reflexes were done

I am a big Toney fan but I do not believe he would be able to break Norton or Witherspoon's guard anywhere near as easily.

IMO cross guard is very effective when fighting at close range.

Are you trying to tell me that he'd break down Old Mongoose defense based on him beating washed up Holyfield? I'm not buying that..

Holyfield was almost 41 and only won 2 of his last 7 bouts leading up to this fight ... and also lost his next fight aswell. Nothing to breakdown, Holyfield had nothing left in the tank.

The old bull**** “Philly Shell” Which never existed before hipsters in the 2000s invented that name and a fake history to go along with it...

Toney would have landed on Spoon more than Bruno did.

I think this defensive style was developed in gyms in Philly but that has been disputed, it`s a very old defensive style, George Benton used to use it too.

Well what is it then? it`s a very good tactic that Floyd Mayweather perfected.

Moore was far better defensively using the cross guard than Holy was even when he used it inthe 90`s, he often got caught.

Then criticize Holyfield for his weaknesses, not whole strategy. Jones wouldn't break down Moore or Norton easily.

Also, Schmeling fought with "Philly Shell" and he was 1920s european fighter learning how to box in Germany. There is nothing Philadelphian about this style.
