AJ didn’t go down like a sack of potatoes though. He got badly buzzed and his legs went a bit shaky and then he went down. He probably could have stayed on his feet after Wlad hit him but he just didn’t try and let himself fall down because he knew how vulnerable he was and he needed the 10 count. Also Wlad was pushing Povetkin to the canvas most of the knock downs. And didn’t AJ rock Povetkin with just a straight right and make him retreat on the back foot? That takes some serious power because no one really has done that to Povetkin before.
He did go down like a sack of of potatoes. I'm talking about the one legit KD Wlad scored against Povetkin when he dropped him with the shortest left hook, the other KDs were shoves IMO Yes he hurt a a 39 y/o way past his best Povetkin with a huge right hand and it took him about another 6 or 7 shots to put him on his ass I never said AJ doesn't have serious power. He hits very hard but Wlad had murderous lights out power in either hand.
I think Wlad has a stronger right hand and better leaping left hook(which AJ doesn’t really throw much anyway) but I think AJ has way more explosive inside power and hooks. Tbh Wlad avoided inside fighting like the plague probably because it just wasn’t his style but I reckon he must not have hit that hard in that area otherwise he would at least have gave it ago instead clinching every time someone got close.
AJ has fast hands for someone of his gargantuan dimensions, as does Wlad, and it's more those fast combinations of his that get the job done after he's hurt you with a single big shot. Wlad put you to sleep with single devastating shots from either hand. Watch that HL video I posted. He didn't even have to load up on his shots he could generate enormous power from six inch punches Timestamped This content is protected
Do you think Ruiz chin is being a bit overrated by people? Because AJ caught him with straight rights and his head went back like a slingshot and he didn’t even seem fazed by them. Those are the same shots that I thought would drop most heavyweights. Is AJ’s power overrated you think? I agree he isn’t a one punch KO artist but I think he’d powerful enough to at least drop most heavyweights besides Ruiz and Parker with Massine right hands. I think the uppercut AJ landed on Klitschko would spark most heavyweights I still don’t know how Wlad stayed on his feet considering he’s been hurt and dropped by lesser shots earlier in his career.
I think he hits very hard but he just doesn't possess that kind of murderous lights out single shot power that Wlad did. Wlad hit ridiculously hard As for Ruiz's chin. I think he has a very good one but AJ didn't really land many combinations on his chin and on one of the few occasions he did he dropped him. In fact, IIRC, I think it was the first combo he caught him with. Wlad would've KO'd Ruiz
The two examples you mention are of big shots cleanly landed by AJ which didn't drop the man taking them. Maybe because he does hit hard but doesn't have top tier one-punch KO power? Which is why Ruiz wasn't fazed and Wlad stayed on his feet. Just a thought....
Wilder v fury 1 - wilder landed 71 punches dropped fury twice wlad v fury - wlad landed 52 and didn’t leave a mark
