Of course he's finished. He lost one fight!, it's all over for him. It's time to retire and try to compete against geniuses like you in the workforce.
Probably. Wilder's career is full of custom-made fights except those with Fury. When he'll face other top fighters he will have serious problems.
I don't know if I'd say he's totally finished but things will get more difficult for him. He could afford to be picky in a lackluster division before, now he won't have that luxury in a division that is beginning to heat up, we will find out what he's actually made of I think.
Being simple and delusional can help keep the demons at bay. But there's probably a limit on that. So far Wilder believes that Foory lost the first fight and got lucky with the rematch (dirty tactics and Wilder's physical problem). If Fury wins on points in the third fight, Wilder will probably believe the scoring was bad and still have the confidence to push on. He would have only lost to one guy in his mind, a bad matchup perhaps, and lots of excuses to fall back on. If Fury wins by fairly clean stoppage (not massive damage), Wilder will probably be compromised but it's still only one guy he's lost to and he may go on to be force still. If Fury wins by brutal stoppage, Wilder might be significantly compromised and go on the slide. If Wilder gets stopped by someone else soon after a Fury loss, then I do think he'll be on the way out. But who knows, Pac got brutally stopped, lost to Horn, lost to Mayweather, came back and won belts and beat champs again.
Just because Tyson Fury beat him the way he did does not mean that others can repeat what Fury did so easily. Not everyone is Tyson Fury and do not have his talent, ability to move and fight like a big man of his size, reach and his boxing iq and balls. If others try to fight Wilder the way Fury did, they will get sparked out brazzeale style by that right hand, not everyone can fight Wilder like that because they don't have the foot speed, the reach, the chin and the talent to put it all together There is only one Tyson Fury and no disgrace to Wilder for losing to Tyson Fury. Barring Fury, Wilders right hand will be back in business again and Furys legendary status and stock will go up ten times more
wilder will never win another title might get one through charitable donation as in a vacant but he aint beating fury whyte or aj or hrgovic
Please stop putting Hrgovic in this tier, he may have a lot of potential. But he is still a few fights and maybe a few years from being mentioned with that group.
Wilder stepped up and risked fighting a real champion in Fury, albeit a 60% Fury...and it cost him dearly.
Let's see if he takes a 3rd fight with Fury. I have no doubts he will get steamrolled again and then its game over for him.
Wilder can hang with the big boys, but the clock is ticking on his relevancy. Based on the first fury fight, I think he earned a third and final shot at fury, but that's it. If he wins, then he's back in the discussion. If he loses, I'm not sure how he gets another shot at a belt. He'll essentially become a journeyman at that point. I would guess that whatever the outcome of the (hopefully) eventual Fury vs Joshua bout, there will likely be a Fury vs Joshua II simply because of the hundreds of millions of dollars on the table, unless either boxer retires. (and if they each get a win, then a trilogy would be probable.) If fury wins a first and second Joshua fight, then facing wilder a fourth time would be pointless. If Joshua wins both, then maybe, maybe wilder gets a shot, if he's racked up a few more impressive wins in the interim. If Wilder suffers any additional losses after a second loss to fury, then stick a fork in him.
This is the end! After Wilder loses to Fury for the third time, we will never hear from Wilder ever again.
