Hearns was better than DLH in every way except his chin, he was far more two-fisted and DLH could not out-jab Tommy, Hearns out-boxed Benitez and was out-boxing Leonard before getting caught so he would be able to out-box DLH.

Yeah - Mark summed it up nicely (who ever thought they'd say that?) but I think it's likely Hearns gets a KO. Oscar doesn't have a hand-speed advantage here and when he over-shoots his hooks, or gets overzealous with his jab, Hearns right hand is gonna be waiting and flying in, over the top of them. I also think Hearns' left hook to the body would contribute to Oscar's stamina deteriorating further.

Puncher's chance for Oscar but that's it. On the other hand Hearns can win in a few different ways and almost certainly would. De la Hoya probably peaked at 140 in terms of maximising his gifts - too hittable, doesn't have the stamina and also not quite as fast at 147. Hearns by wide decision or late TKO while comfortably ahead on the cards.

"Thread options", "add poll", give it a question, some answers and be sure to always click "display votes publicly".

You had to brawl with Hearns to beat him. Does Oscar have the chin and power to pull it off? Maybe, but I favor Hearns here.

I wish he'd stuck around at 140 for longer, not least so he could have faced Tszyu but he had more fights up at 147 in Whitaker, Quartey, Trinidad and Mosley. He wasn't as effective there as at 135 and 140 though.

Tommy beats the crap outta DLH. Hearns was both a higher caliber fighter, and a bad matchup for Goldie. Oscar's chances are very, very poor.
