I hope the next crop are better than the one's that lost to the Salido's, Canelo's and Ward's of the boxing world.
I agree with a lot of the points made in this thread. There has definitely been a paradigm shift in recent decades. Being cocky, arrogant and naturally talented seems to take precedence over grit, determination and work ethic.
I'm not saying he's not, but what part of what he said was wrong? Wlad and Vitali dominated HWs from the early 2000s to 2015. GGG owned his MW division for years, and around that time Pirog was killing it, too. Kovalev, Beterbeiv or Gvozdyk ect. have been the main guys at LHW since 2012-ish. Aside from Cunningham, I can't remember the last American CW champ.
Klitschko's dominated for 10 yrs Cruiserweight currently dominated by them Light heavy too Middleweight you had Golovkin dominating for 10 yr Loma you got weight jumping dominating. Even now, the best heavy in the world is european
Like most Americans, over the years they became entitled and think they should be handed millions and a championship belt for free without putting in the blood, sweat and tears in the training/gym/nutrition department first.
I mention loads of fighters, I can't see where fan boy and agenda comes in to it, the geezer said EE fighters have been dominating and I only agreed with him and backed it up, it's most of the divisions
Yeah Mayweather and the "0" becoming so important is a big part of it. Many fighters today fight to "not lose" rather than to win.
Wasn't there a gym rat somewhere in the states that hit the heavybag like Tyson but couldn't translate that into real fights? The last American hope seek n destroyer was Seth Mitchell but he got exposed.
Americans got lazy. No hunger because its a relatively rich nation. Look around who,s succesful atm....the eastern europeans relatively poor nation with hungry people. They talk about poverty in america but its not really the same level of poverty as the guys mentioned faced. They,ve got it too good. Not saying the guys dont train hard....but that style takes a lot of work....their lacking the hunger to put the work in. Plus the trainers that know stuff dont have that hunger either probably for that same reason plus boxings a mugs game. When its time to make good money fighters leave or get stole etc. No real point putting all that work in...for that to happen. Thats my guess anyway.
