I was inspired to bring this up when an op wrote about Tim Bradley and Joel Diaz breaking up As I am writing this there is a ten min video that I did not see of teddy atlas' leaving Alex povetkin which I'm sure is an audio gem. One guy, odlh, went through trainers like people wear clothes, I remember in his book he had a trainer who used to go on tirades on atheism. That was enough for Oscar to get rid of him. Also oscar, with steward the great Manny, said he gave too many days off to odlh. Oscar was used to running when there was nothing to do. Bored? Run tired? Run nervous? Run Etc. At one point angel Garcia said he was leaving Danny's corner for good because Danny wasn't listening to his voice any longer in the corner. What about golotas coach, who said he should have shoved the mouthpiece up his ass in the Tyson fight when he wouldn't answer the bell. How long did they last? What are some great fighter and trainers farewells that you've seen or witnessed in this sport? PS Lou duva went through a lot of **** because of golota-, my oh my, smh. Picturing when they dropped him on a stretcher while he had a heart attack in the bowe- golota riot! Thanks for the input!
I used to get a kick out of how upset John David Jackson used to get over Randall Bailey's performance until he knocked his opponent out then preceded to cry that "he got his power from his momma." I can't recall the fighters name but it was a come from behind stoppage.
Hatton and his first trainer, don't even remember his name now....when he hired Sr and got flattened by Pacman
Tyson Rooney. Tyson spent years with the guy before becoming a champ, years with him after becoming a champ and hasn’t spoken to him since 1988.
Amir Khan and Oliver Harrison Amir Khan and Dean Powell Amir Khan and Jorge Rubio Amir Khan and Freddie Roach Amir Khan and Virgil Hunter Amir Khan and Joe Goosen This guy has changed trainers like the trainers were the problem.
How about a vote for Donny Lalonde and Teddy Atlas? According to Atlas' own words (his book) he went to Lalonde's apartment with a gun to shoot him because Lalonde dumped him as his trainer. Luckily Lalonde was sleeping and Lalonde's girlfriend didn't want to wake him up when Teddy came calling. Is there a common denominator here? Pretty over the top/scary reaction by Atlas if you ask me.
BHOP and Bouie Fisher. Fisher was with him from the very start of his career in 89'. He ended up suing BHOP in a very ugly split. I think they did end up reconciling before Fisher died.
